Creatures and Locations tabs

I used to think this would be too much to ask; but since you implementer _Items_ already, I believe _Creatures_ and _Locations_ could be implemented in the same way: as simplified versions of _Character_ pages, with tags, a quick description, a bio, a (crunch) description and a small picture.

_Creatures_ could store either monsters, animals, mythical beasts, anything that's not a human (or human-ish) NPC to your campaign. You could create even entries for single unique monsters or for races, you choose.

_Locations_ would be anything you would mark on a map, regardless of scalem, could be kingdoms or that cool shop around the block.

I loved _Items_. Don't have many in my campaign yet, but I'm thinking about them jut to add more to OP. They're an extension to the regular wiki pages that have an index with pictures, plus tabs. Apply that to places and monsters, and you get happiness!

I totally agree with this. Would simplify the process and leave the "wiki" for other specifics of the world.

First, finish implementing the Items Tab. example, in the character edit mode why isn't there a pull-down for items?

You may want to post this idea in the "How to Request a Feature" thread Monstah

I'm not sure if a locations tab is really needed. That seems the sort of thing you'd add to a wiki but I like the idea of a creaturs tab. I'd have plenty of use for that.

I agree about the Items tab - it's a very handy way to store information about new equipment in "my wiki":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/le-ballet-de-l-acier .

A Creatures tab would be helpful for a lot of different campaigns: monsters and other races in fantasy, aliens and critters in sci fi, unearthly horrors in, well, horror. Right now I'm using the Items tab for "horse breeds":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/le-ballet-de-l-acier/items?tag=horse and I'm going to add hawks (for falconry) and dogs (for hunting) when time allows, and I could migrate all of these over to a Creatures tab.

I'm not sure I would get as much use out of a Locations tab. The Character and Items pages, and presumably a similarly-constructed Creatures page, are useful because they include discrete sections for Description (cruch) and Background (fluff), which each of these need. Unless we're talking about something like a single structure, where you could presumably include things like the defensive value or strength of things like curtain walls or wooden doors, locations don't usually require much in the way of stats, and in my wiki if I need them I just put them in the GM-only section.

Personally I'm also a little concerned with the tabs section getting too cluttered.

In any case, it's food for thought.

Yeah, the tabs section is already getting pretty full. I also don't see the need for a "locations" tab, when you can just make a "locations" page and then make individual pages of your locations to link to. For that matter, you can do that with anything, right? Am I missing something here as to why these tabs are needed by people?

I like the idea of tabs that organize information of immediate interest to players for purposes of running their characters - the Characters and Items tabs do this, and a Creatures tab could perhaps be similarly useful, again because they include both stats and descriptive text.

Another Portaller suggested a GM-Only tab, which I personally would have no use for - I have a 'shadow wiki' of GM-only pages already, and together with the GM-only section of each wiki page, a GM-only tab would just be a distraction. A Locations tab wouldn't really add anything to what I'm doing already.
