I think I understand. The navigation menu and the "xxx update" extreme left and right should be transparent and show the background like it does on the wiki pages.

SanguinousRex, when editing, drag the little hash mark thing in the bottom right corner of the edit screen and make the area as big as you like.

I can't seem to edit all the forum posts. About a third of the time the edit box is not available. Some are my posts and some are not. I can't figure out any pattern.
