Beta testers needed for autosave feature
February 2013
Okay, thanks for the help. I'll launch it live for everyone on Monday. I'm always happy to add these small safety net features.

Yes, it's a timed save for the page's data. If you're editing the same page in two tabs it will get messed up. Is there any reason you would be editing the same page in 2 tabs? I know it might happen that 2 different people would be editing the s…

I've added you to the list, saethone. Give it a whirl and see what you think.

It was a stupid mistake on my part. Try again and see if you get better results.

Yep, I tried what you said and got that exact same effect.

Hmm, that is definitely strange, and exactly the kind of thing we want to find in a beta test. You're sure you're editing 3 different pages, and it's not the same page in 3 different tabs?

I deployed the autosave feature and added you both to the beta list. Please take it for a spin and tell me what you think.

Yep, it's deployed. I've also updated the guide with a little more information on how to use the font controls. Typekit especially is a little confusing but once you get all the stars aligned it works fine. Now I'm going to relax. It's been a cra…

I managed to get both GWF and Typekit working. For GWF you input the names of the fonts you want, and with Typekit you paste in your kit id. I'll see about deploying this tomorrow morning. So exciting!!!

Steve, You make a good point about letting people have their own Typekit account. GWF and Typekit both use the same javascript library, or at least they can. So, if I get GWF working, it probably won't be too much trouble to add Typekit to that. …

From what I've read, it looks like "Google Web Fonts":http://www.google.com/webfonts/ should be fairly easy to integrate. We could allow you to choose a list of font families you want to use and then retrieve them from GWF. Typekit looks to be mu…

Ok, a lot going on here. I'll try to respond: h4. Overall Answer - Better than nothing I hope people aren't getting too frustrated with what you can't do, or can't do yet. I know it's not a perfect solution, but my gut says it's still much bet…

I'm still grappling with what to do with campaigns that lapse back to free. As it stands right now, the custom CSS will no longer be loaded for those campaigns, but I think that's too harsh and I'm thinking of changing that. However, it will remain …

I'll look into the footers today. You mentioned it before and I just didn't have time to get to it. As for the logo, I'll see about that. I'm really not that great at photoshop so even simple things like making a background transparent are kind of d…

Ok, all the updates are deployed, and custom CSS is enabled for everyone. There seems to be an issue with expiring the cache for the CSS, so if you make edits and the CSS doesn't update that's a known bug. We're working on it. Also, I hope the ma…

It's clunky, but you can always just send a txt doc to your GM and ask them to paste it into the custom CSS textarea. Definitely not a perfect solution, but a workaround until something better comes along.

You bring up a good question. Unfortunately, the CSS is only editable by the GM since it's on the 'Edit Campaign Settings' screen which is restricted to the GM. Even co-GM's can't get access to this screen. This isn't really because we don't thin…

Great point. I should be less aggressive in the verbiage. 99% of our users are fantastic and I shouldn't talk to people as if they're trolls. I'll make the updates that you suggest.

My current plan is to release this to everyone on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week, after the frenzy of Ennies voting dies down. I've also put together a "set of guidelines":http://help.obsidianportal.com/kb/advanced/custom-css-for-your-campaign…

Below is a list of what I've done so far. Unfortunately, I'm sure some of these will be breaking changes in a couple of cases, most notably changes to the character and item pages. I really hope it doesn't break the DSTs, or at least not too much. B…

I'm doing an overhaul of the markup right now, and it actually looks halfway decent. There are a few places that need work, but most pages already have a div with a class explaining the page's purpose. I've added some more divs/spans in places where…

It looks like we do strip out the id attribute. It doesn't seem like too much of a security issue to allow user-specified id's, especially considering how much else is allowed, so I could remove that restriction if it's desired. _You’re correct h…

All good comments, let me hit a few (in no particular order): The z-index discussion is good. We may implement something along the lines of limiting the z-index values, but as discussed someone can just inline style what they want. We really don'…

Includes and other templating will have to wait. I'd like to be able to support it, but it's just out of scope at this point and much harder to define than allowing CSS. I'd really rather not try and build a templating engine, although we may have t…
