Loki Has Arrived

Hey everybody, just thought I'd introduce myself.

I've been GMing since 1979 and have played a wide variety of systems. Since their introduction Spelljammer and Planescape have been the baseline settings for all of my fantasy campaigns.

I'm the List Ogre for the Spelljammer Yahoo Group. I've also been a manager on the Official Planescape Website (Planewalker.com) since 2004, and have been an ongoing contributor to the Official Spelljammer Website (Spelljammer.org) since 2001. Since relocating from New Orleans to Cincinnati two years ago I have also become active in the Southwest Ohio Gathering of Gamers and act as admin on their Facebook page.

I'm a pro blogger and social media consultant in what passes for real life. I am usually shepherded through my day by three bossy cats and the brilliant printmaker I married.

So, who is ready for Thor to hit the theaters?

    Welcome Loki!

    Wow, and to think I was born in 1979! That is some pedigree you've got there. Well I hope you find the tools here at the OP to be of help to you in running your campaigns, I can tell you that they've been a huge boon to me and my two groups. If you aren't already familiar with it, Chainsaw has put together a handy "Tips":http://forums.obsidianportal.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=1114&page=1#Item_42 page to help people get started formatting their wikis. Also, since Planescape is your thing, here are two of my favorite Planescape campaigns:

    "Shimring":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/shimring
    "Planescape":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/planescape-campaign

    Hope that you have fun building your site and holler if you have any questions, this here is a really friendly bunch and I'm sure someone has probably got the answer to any formatting questions you might have.

    Cheers,
    -Arsheesh

    Thanks Asheesh! I've been lurking in the forums for the past week since I decided to tranistion my main campaign to OP.

    I'd already tracked down some other Planescape games (and was proud to see our 3.5 update of the setting from Planewalker being used as the baseline in a few), but ad not seen Shimring before. Looks like a good one!

    I'm not going to be massively social until a few weeks go by, most of my time will be populating the campaign wiki. Got all my copyright permissions together and am cranking out several pages a day.

    Once it's a little more presentable I'd love your opinion on The Spelljoined. Give me some time to get it dossed up.

    Natural 20s to you!

    Wow, between your number of years playing and your work with Planscape and Spelljammer you sound like a professional gamer!

    I was a player in an AMAZING planscape camapign many years ago, but due to college I missed a huge chunk of the game, my character for that game is among my favorite all time characters (Ahh, memories...). Since then I have loved the setting and occasionally include elements in my own games. I remember getting a spelljammer box set when I was still fairly new to gaming and loved reading through the material but I was young and new to gaming so I really had no idea what to do with it (what a shame...).

    Glad to formally meet you DML. :)

    A pleasure indeed!

    A lot of the stuff going up is the collective work of our teams on Spelljamer.org and Planewalker.com an is credited where this is so. That said, here's something to check out, mostly the work of the amazing Silverblade, it's full 3D deck plans for the party's Dragonfly class ship:

    With badasses like that allowing me to use their work I am standing on the shoulders of giants.

    Hi DM Loki and welcome to OP. I was a bit confused at first when I got your message because it seemed like you were very experienced and yet indications were that you were new to OP. (I get it now) Thanks to Arsheesh for introducing Shimring, and I will say that Arsheesh should accept no less than an accolade of "MILLENNIAL" proportion for the amount of positive input he puts into this site (as you will no doubt confirm by being involved yourself).

    I agree with Arsheesh that you will find the community here very helpful and supportive and as a DM tool, you will find out for yourself how useful it is. As for RPGaming time, you even beat ME by two years. In 1979 I had read everything by Tolkien and was playing RISK. I saw my first article relating to D&D in 1981 and drove to the nearest town that sold the RED BOX! It changed my life!

    DarkMagus also works like a demon and I firmly believe that his music site input is very useful to many players. I am sure you will also be interested by his "Illumnos":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/the-ilumnos-series campaign.

    Welcome to the site and I look forward to conversing further in the future.

    Flattery, I've just been gaming awhile. Stuff accumulates.

    Great to meet both of you. Sorry for the brevity of replies but I've got a lot of data to drag into my wiki + the formating. Looking forward to more quality interaction soon. In the meant time I've got a lot of text and art to upload...

    Hey Twiggyleaf- remember when psionics were one percentile table in the back of the DMG?

    Duskreign- we'll need to talk Wyrmshadow when my time frees up.

    I sure do. Most of the time we opted not to use Psionics, so whenever a Mind Flayer appeared, there was always an EXTRA groan in our group. I also remember going into my local stationery shop to find that, out of the blue, they had decided to sell D&D Books and one of the books on sale was a thing I could never before even have contemplated - it was called Monster Manual II - Boy, was I the enviable DM that year!

    Heck YEAH, I'm ready to see Thor! Not to mention Sucker Punch next week! In fact, I will be very put out if we don't all get together to see either of them, lol.

    Big waves to everyone else here... just wanted to say "Hi!" since I am also an old-school gamer from the 70s, and happen to be playing in Loki's Spelljoined campaign.

    BTW, Kenari is one of the artists just cranking out content on our campaign. Most of the line art with the catfolk in them? Those are hers.

    See, I'm slowly dragging my game group onto OP...

    Welcome to the Portal, *DML*.

    I started gaming in 1977, so it's great to see another _veterano de los juegos de rol_ on the Portal.

    Hey BV, a fellow Dumas fan, eh? Good man! Ever read The Phoenix Guard by Stpehen Brust? A great take off on the Musketeers style, highly advised.
