Hi,

My name is Barad the Dwarf. I've been playing for a couple of years, but with a great gap between groups. I discovered RPG's at 21 years old. Some friends from my student fraternity told me about AD&D and wanted to start a new group. Me and my girlfriend (now my wife) jumped in and we all gradually learned the game. We played with this group for about 2 years. Since then we didn't really had a gaming group. After a couple of years I found some friends who wanted to give it a try. We used the 3.5 D&D editions (mixed with AD&D rules, but hey it worked). It was rather difficult to get this group together so we didn't play a lot and it all has stopped now.

A couple of years ago I met someone in my local bar who also played D&D and they we're still looking for some new partymembers. Me and my wife joined in and we've been playing for about 2 years I think. First we played AD&D with 3 DM's (including me) who all had their own campaigns. To play something else, I have started to play Call of Cthulhu since yesterday when I'm the DM.

I don't really know a lot about RPG's. I'm just learning and therefore I spend a lot of time on RPG geek to.

Well nice to get to know all of you.

Hello OP! Just thought I'd leave a note saying thanks for having a site like this. I saw OP a year ago (or so, I'm not entirely sure) and thought it was a great idea, but it's only in the last couple weeks that I've signed up and started generating a world for my players. I'm used to a more dungeon-crawl style of game, so I'm just sort of curious about how much of the world I should build up before I set them loose in it. I don't have a lot of continent so far, a couple NPC backgrounds, the starting town is fairly heavily under construction, but the skeleton for it is up, as well for a couple other settlements. What should I make sure to knock off my checklist in the next week or so before the game starts, from a world point of view?

Hello Obsidian Community,

So I'm actually not new here. I've had a campaign on the site for a while now for my players, but thought I'd just introduce myself to the rest of the community here. By the way, I'd like to thank Micah and all the other people that have made this site a reality, I can't tell you what a difference it has made both for my players in organizing and enriching our campaign. Also thanks to ChainsawXIV for his "Totally Unofficial (and Totally Freaking Helpful!) Help & Tips FAQ," it really helped me to add a bit more flare to our campaign site.

About that, in case any of you are interested, my campaign site is located "here":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/age-of-legends. We are using the new Pathfinder Core Rules system, and playing in my own homebrew world of Eriond. After receiving quite a bit of help from the good people over at the "Cartographer's Guild":http://www.cartographersguild.com/ I just finished a map of the known world of Eriond. It's my first non-hand drawn map, and, thanks to the help of the Guild, it turned out much better than I originally thought it would. If anyone reading this happens to see my map and would like to know how to do something similar, I highly encourage you to check out the link to the Cartographer's Guild, they will help walk you through the process. Well, that's about it for now, thanks everyone for reading this.
Cheers,

Greetings,

I am new to Obsidian Portal. I've been following the posts on Facebook for a while now and have decided to check it out for myself. I love the character creator! I haven't tried much else yet though. This looks like a great place for characters of Clan Boulderstone (a cross-game roleplaying creature clan created by my friend Doug Dalton) to have adventures! To that end, I have created two characters: Secale Boulderstone and Junior Boulderstone so far. Junior Boulderstone has D&D 4th Ed., DDM and Heroscape D&D stats set up for him so far, but I intend to use him in any game I can (Star Wars might be a bit out of character though unless he could be a native of a rather technologically backwards planet :)).

I have more experience playing role playing games on my PC and consoles than I do with table-top games, but I enjoy doing both. Obsidian Portal looks like a good way to bridge the two together. I'm still trying to figure out how one goes about playing on here though.

Any tips for joining existing games or creating new ones would be appreciated.

If you live in the Las Vegas area and would like to play table-top games with others in person, come to a Vegas Game Day event at Las Vegas Library on Las Vegas Blvd and Washington (north of the Strip)! They are free and open to the public. Play various rpgs, strategy boardgames, miniatures wargames and card games with us! Bring your own and recruit players or sign up for scheduled games by going to www.vegasgamers.org and www.meetup.com/vegasgameday/

Hello. I am pleased to introduce myself to the greater community here at OP. My internet nom de guerre is Anubitz, and I have been roleplaying for fifteen years. I have been working on my fantasy setting - Cen'Ureth - for almost sixteen years. For the first years of my life I read primarily Science Fiction, and was not exposed to the broader fantasy genre. But around my fourteenth year I read my first fantasy novel, and it opened my eyes to what became a life defining pursuit. I have read hundreds of novels since then, in many genres, learning quite a bit about the author's craft. Now I love to read history books, because they tell me the why behind events.

Cen'Ureth is a fantasy world, yes, but it is a world that follows logical rules. Magic does not fundamentally violate the laws of physics (in the Omniverse that Cen'Ureth exists within), even when it appears to do so. Beings act for a reason, not because "they are evil." The Gods worked within the pre-existing laws of reality to create the world, because it doesn't make sense to spend huge amounts of (magical) energy when one doesn't have to do so. But, sometimes the Gods did do so. And those times were all the more special for their rarity.

The races that live on Cen'Ureth followed a pattern of social development roughly similar to that of earth humans. But they had the technology of Magic to aid their cultural evolution as well. So, expect some differences, great and minor, from "ordinary" fantasy settings. The history of the primary civilization of the campaign world does not descend from Greco-Roman roots, and is not necessarily Pseudo-Medieval. Parts will be identifiable and comfortable, others will be strange and alien, but logical from the perspective of the setting.

I am not yet ready to present Cen'Ureth as a completed setting. It is a work in progress, and I do not have enough ported to Obsidian Portal to run a campaign. I hope to finish my initial design of the wiki soon, and invite all and sundry to discover the mysteries and wonders of Cen'Ureth.
greetings from denmark, came across this wiki thingy sometime last year and thought it was worth some looking into.
Im in my early 30's and have been playing since i was around 16, it all started with the good old red book of Dungeons & dragons (basic), escalated into Advanced, then shadowrun and cthulu and now we're deep into 3ed D&D and are scrutinising the new pathfinder rules, we never made it into 3.5 having spent a heap on 3ed.

Hello All, I'm in the process of creating a world on this site so I thought I should introduce myself.

I enjoy 3 things in life... driving, wrenching, and roleplaying. I do the later when I don't have money to work on my car or go to the racetrack... I'm a single dad, I'm also developing a web-based automotive business.

I've been playing D&D since 2nd Edition days and lately I prefer to DM. I find I get to be more creative that way... I prefer 3.5 but I have an extensive list of house rules. I'm familiar with the other editions as well.

I've probably moved around and seen more of California then most people will in their lifetimes. I also lived in Oregon on an Indian Reservation. (although I had no blood-relation to that tribe)

I enjoy Reading, (George R.R. Martin FTW) Writing, (huge procrastinator) and watching movies/anime or some kind of autoracing on the tele. (Formula 1 is out of their minds)

Anyone that knows me will tell you I am very easygoing and friendly. (if not just a bit introverted) I'm very good to my friends and I have no reservations about sharing or helping others if I can. I think the biggest problem with people is "an over-exagerated sense of self importance." so I remain humble

Hi all

One of my fellow players in a pbp on ENWorld frequents OP so I decided to come and take a look.

I've been gaming since around 1980; can't really remember when exactly, but it's been a while. Started with AD&D when it was that, RQ, Traveller and not much else, and have been a D&D player most of the time since, although I was late to the 3E party and the 4E has the music turned up too loud and not enough nibbles for my liking. Other than the WoD line, I've sampled pretty much every major game at some point I reckon, and can't resist picking up odds and ends of the most obscure stuff whenever I can - even though I know I'll never play it, maybe even barely read it!

I got fed up of my RL group about 4 months back but rather than pack all my books away I've been reading and buying more than ever lately. I've discovered the joy of podcasts and pbp forum games so I'm still getting some gaming in. Maybe something will come along on OP that I can join?

Hey everyone! I'm rather new to this site, but I'm loving how easy and wonderful it is to organization campaigns and create a fun webpage for campaign creativity! I've been playing 3.5 DnD since my sophomore year in college about 4 years ago, and have fallen in love with campaigning since. My favorite setting is Scion, just because I'm a modern fantasy enthusiast, but I'm also still loving 3.5. Right now I'm in a Scion campaign with my beloved character, Naia and also plan sometime mid-January to start my own Scion: Heroes campaign called After Dark. I'm just making teaser bits as of now, but it should prove to be fun!

Since I just moved, all my campaigns are done via online using the IC/OOC dual channel idea. My three guy friends are always doing the campaigns with me so we usually have a small group but we know our styles and our settings are pretty free flowing! Uh... I also like to draw, write, party and video game it up! I play WoW too. >.>;
