I wanted to atleast introduce myself. I am Yoshara and I am a fairly new DM, and when I mean fairly new I mean about 6 months into my first 3.5 campaign. I have been playing 3.5 for about 6 years, about 1 year ago picked up 4.0 but just couldn't get into it so of course stepped back to 3.5 and began DMing. I am currently DMing one 3.5 game and I am a player of a Pathfinder game. I find Pathfinder to be fun and I have to say I feel it is a great medium between 3.5 and 4.0. Of course this is my first game and we have only had 2 sessions so my views on Pathfinder could change and I'm not saying its perfect, nothing is perfect...thats what house rules are for! lol

As a player I have two modes, Power Gaming and Roleplay. I am horrible at mixing the two. I believe the best base class is Cleric and of course I don't mind being a healer. I find a challenge in being a healer and also being versatile. I feel that a cleric's best trait is being versatile with their domains. I prefer playing in Forgotten Realms over any other setting, I don't know why but Faerun is just my type of world. I don't like any tech in the worlds.

But I believe that is a good but brief layout of my preferences in D&D and Roleplaying games in general.

I went ahead and got the Ascendant level of the site, just looking over it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling when I think of the things I can do with these tools. To the Mods/Devs/Web Designers - Awesome work, keep it up. You can have my 5$ a month for the work you do. Well worth it in my book.

I did have one quick question that could probably be answered by one of the more seasoned Obsidian Portal members -

I am running a Faerunian campaign so with that, what is the rule of using pictures/maps/information from the Forgotten Realms and 3.5 books on this website? I don't want to get anyone in trouble due to copyrights and such and I couldn't find too much on this in the forums. Though I searched for it briefly (10 mins or so).

I am glad to be apart of this community and look to learn a lot from all of you.

It is set in Nentir Vale and running through the starter campaign, to get the equally new to D&D players custom with 4e, and moving up into Hammerfast with help from the Hammerfast campaign guide. Hopefully I can weave my ideas in and get better, but hey, have to start someplace.
Hello. The name is Alan Kellogg and I'm putting together a campaign to be known as "Tales of the Wolf Folk Sea".It is a fantasy campaign, using the Dangerous Journeys: Mythus rules, and put together using the World Builder's Guidebook by Rich Baker.

I am opening up the campaign to the community, so if you have any ideas or suggestions feel free to pass them on. If you'd like to take one part of the world and use it for a campaign of your own, drop me a line and I'll likely okay it. There really isn't much to the world at the moment, but that should change as time goes by.

Please note that the Wolf Folk, the people of the Wolf Folk Sea, and the Unicorn Orcs are reserved by your host for his development. Any other race or culture is open for your development, with your host's input.

Note that while the main campaign is designed for the Mythus game, any campaign set in the world of Ki can be used with your favorite set of rules.
That's the message, more to come as I further develop the campaign.

I've been GMing since 1979 and have played a wide variety of systems. Since their introduction Spelljammer and Planescape have been the baseline settings for all of my fantasy campaigns.

I'm the List Ogre for the Spelljammer Yahoo Group. I've also been a manager on the Official Planescape Website (Planewalker.com) since 2004, and have been an ongoing contributor to the Official Spelljammer Website (Spelljammer.org) since 2001. Since relocating from New Orleans to Cincinnati two years ago I have also become active in the Southwest Ohio Gathering of Gamers and act as admin on their Facebook page.
I like wikis and have been using them for my campaign for several years -- a public one for the players and a private one to organize DM material. What I'm looking for is some kind of customizable wiki with facilities to create standardized forms for things like spells, magic items, monsters... and widgets for common tasks, such as generating an instance of a monster or rolling a random item from a table.
Hi everyone, just wanted to post a welcome message and introduce myself.

I started playing D&D around the 2000's, and only recently found a new group to game with (now playing 4th). I signed up for OP a year ago, but have only started using it for a campaign that I'm starting up with some (since graduated) college friends. All three of my players are new, so hopefully this website will be a good resource for the lot of us. Our campaign link is http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/cloths-of-heaven . Kinda bare right now, but I'm adding stuff slowly (and some of it is GM only till we run our first session this weekend) and I've already begun using some helpful templates/advice posted in these forums.

I'm also gonna take advantage of the wiki abilities and compile my yet-to-be-finished modern, post-apocalypse campaign setting "The World of Advent:" where Magic is a mineral resource that is mined and inscribed upon.

Greetings OP People, I'd like to take a minute to introduce myself and my campaign, The Dragonbone Kingdoms.

I've been running RPG's for a long time (so I think I'm pretty proficient with that aspect of the site), but I've never been good at staying particularly active on interweb forum whatzits. However, I'm liking a lot of what I've found on this site, and I just have to say cheers to the wizards behind this thing.
World-building is one of my favorite parts of running a game, so I love having the ability to create an easy-to-navigate chronicle of the world my players and I are creating. I've tried running a campaign as a Facebook group, and it is just very limited, so it is terrific to have these tools available.

Thanks for making this incredible resource and community (unlike so many forums I've tried to get into, the discussions here seem pretty on-topic and respectful -a novelty in my opinion), and I invite you all to take a look at my wiki. I'd love some feedback!

I've been signed up on the site since April and have been enjoying it quite a lot.
I DM 2 Campaigns on the site a 3.5 written by myself and a 4e that follows Modules put out by WoC.

If there is one thing I love about the site it is the ability to bring players out of their shells, having them participate in creating the world they are in and make them really think of their backstory.

So yea, love the site, looking forward to using taking advantage of the forums.
I've been slacking on this site and am in the process of rebuilding it. Trying to get my players to take advantage of the tools they have available. Plus I havn't been updating information as much as I should. There has been a lot of story that has not been posted on the site.
A very active wiki. Almost all of my players post back stories and other adventure logs. Half of the players have never played before and all of them have never touched 4e. This is also my first attempt at 4e

Take a look and if you have any suggestions or comments I would love to hear them.

Hello everyone. I've been a follower of OP for a couple of years now, but just "ascended" to be able to put my campaign in full writing gear.

So much good stuff and new ideas in here that I could not help myself for asking you guys for your opinions on what I've done so far.
It's not much compare to some great polished campaigns out there, but I'm getting there (one Textile trick after the other).
After bumping those Emissary inquiry posts, I'm looking to see if we've got any NorCal gamers in the building that are trying to come roll some dice.

Sebastacon might be one of the smaller west coast cons but I can say it'll definitely be one of the chiller ones..
Incase folks are interested, a couple of the homies from my gaming group are rolling up there with me. Would be nice to meet some new faces, especially some fellow OP'ers.
Name is Libranchylde (libra + n + chylde). aka Kyle. been on OP for well over a year, but I am just getting really active on these forums. so I wanted to introduce myself.
I have been playing d&d since 2000 or so. mostly 3rd and 3.5 but also some 2nd, castles & crusades, and a little white wolf.

soooo... yea. hi. feel free to befriend me. just don't behead me for the unfinished look of my campaign, I haven't had a lot of time to work on it. plus my group had been wishy washy this last year, haven't actually played in months. hoping to get a few last games in the next couple months, as I will not get to play for quite a while starting in may (im going to be a first time dad!)

Hello, everyone!

I've been an OP member for a few months now and I'm just getting around to introducing myself. My "Saberpunk":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/saberpunk campaign is in its eighth session. We play every other week but were on hiatus during the winter holidays. Things pick up again in two weeks. This is a regular tabletop game at my house (not online, sorry).

Saberpunk starts with a typical D&D world, drops it into an urban setting, and infuses it with cyberpunk tropes. You can read more on the campaign site, but the essence is that magic only exists in this world where huge numbers of people collect together (cities), and magic mutates everything it touches. Thus, all the "weird" races are created by magic; all "classed" characters are created by magic; monsters are aberrations created by the collective consciousness of the populace.

My wiki strategy is to drop enough background to get the players excited, and then develop bits and pieces of the setting as they come up in play.

By day, I'm a Java programmer for a well-known security company. In my scarce freetime, I'm an indie games enthusiast. I dabble in game design, and do some game editing now and then. You might have heard of some of the games I worked on, but probably not, though a fair number of people seem to be familiar with the One Bad Egg (3rd-party D&D 4E) products that I edited.

Hello everyone! I am completely new to Obsidian Portal and I wanted to say hi and ask a question before I put my foot in it!

What is the etiquette concerning linking to a fellow gamer's campaign wiki if it has great information you think your party could use? I am starting a Dark Sun campaign and I see that there is already information about generic things like Cities and Landscapes that is already fleshed out in other peoples campaign. Is it bad form to link to their description? I don't want to upset anyone and I thought I would check in first.

Hey there friends!

So this weekend I got together with the two remaining members of our gaming group to discuss the setting for the campaign we will hopefully be starting soon and to go over how the character creation process will work. We haven't played D&D in nearly a month now and we were all Jonesing for some action. I came up with the basic ideas for a one shot adventure that the players could easily jump into. Normally one of the biggest obstacles for players in a single shot is "getting into character". For a campaign world it may take many sessions for the player to get really comfortable in their characters shoes, to think and feel like their character. Trying to avoid this problem by cutting out the role playing makes the game feel more like a board game than a role playing game because no one is in character and meta gaming tends to be the rule.

So what I did to make the best use of our time and make this one shot as simple as possible to jump right into I told the players ahead of time that I had a one shot in mind for later, but no other details. We got together and worked on the other campaign for about an hour or so.

Hi all!

I've been wanting to run a Cyberpunk 2020 campaign for a LONG time, and this site has helped me gather and organize all my crazy ideas into one place. I've never played a CP2020 game before and neither has any of the potential players involved so It's gonna be an interesting experience at the start.

If anyone has any good website references or just tips and advice for a new CP2020 DM then let me know! Anything is appreciated.
