The player does not need to know, or have experience with Gurps, but will need to like role playing versus hack and slash. We are friendly and helpful with making characters as well as slightly age worn (not the 20 something's, but the 30 something's). We wont hold age against you, but have had players who didn't mesh well to start because of age differences:)

Hello,

I wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself. My name is Anthony, I am 37 years old and have been playing tabletop RPGs since about 1989. I started off with the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons "red box" and have been hooked ever since. I also enjoy writing, playing video games, working on film projects, drawing, playing guitar and cooking.

I am currently playing 2nd edition D&D with my group of just over one year now after an eight year hiatus and am having a blast.

I love using Obsidian Portal and it is helping to make my game much more rich and full of detail. Its fantastic that I can organize my game as well as document our adventures. If you find time, I would love for you to check out our site: http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/legends-of-the-middle-ages

Hello,

I am going to be starting an online DnD 4th edition game. I want to start by explaining the specifics, and then a little bit about the setting. Please, if you are interested in this game, send me a PM indicating as such (and include an email addresss). My Campaign is up on the Obsidian Portal page, although it's light for now. You can find it either for searching the game's title ("Morwold: The Bridge"), or for my user name (zippercomics). While I might see the reply here, chances are I'm going to see the PM on the campaign first, and while this isn't a "First come, first served" scenario, being first in line never hurts.

Below is a long form of what I'm looking for. I know it's a lot to read, but here's a quick summary:

* Home brew world,
* Non-combat played over message board (not sure where yet),
* Combat scheduled and played over MapTools whenever possible,
* Looking for 4 dedicated players who will invest time in the world and the game,
* No rules layers,
* Combat will be a part of this game. Expect the occassional "dungeon crawl",
* Come to the table with a character you're interested in playing, and I'll give you a story.

As far as the more concrete stuff:

* 4th Edition,
* Using the character builder,
* Level 1 to start (I know, groan, but you'll grow ...),
* Point buy (witholding info on that until I get players),
* Limits on non-core material, but anything will be allowed if it can be reasonably justified.

The Game is officially called "Morwold: The Bridge". The game takes place in a very typical homebrew world. You can find details on the campaign site.

Interested?

If you're interested, please PM me your user name, and an email I can use to get in touch with you! You can reply here, but I won't guarantee anything. PM first, forum second. I tend to be impatient, so the faster you reach out to me, the faster we can get started.

As I receive emails, I'll be taking the addresses and the conversation over to email, as that's a faster / better means of communicating at this stage. So be ready for emails, and more importantly, ready to answer them.

You CAN tell me what kind of character you WANT to play, but I won't be recording this information until I have the player base. Then, we'll all discuss it together.

Questions?

Cheers, and thanks for reading. Long, I know, but I needed to make sure the ad was attractive (and hopefully, it was) ...

Thanks!

Do you want to explore RPGs more than join any particular long-going campaign?

I want to create a group where we meet once a week to play various games. We would rotate GMs (on a voluntary basis) as well as games. The idea would be to explore many different games, playing one or two stories in each of them and moving on to a new game (or not) by consensus from everyone.

Players should be willing to show up every week within reason (flakey people are my personal pet peeve) and willing to try to have fun even if the game we're playing isn't exactly your flavor. You must be respectful. Anyone of any sex, race, nationality, sexuality, gender identity, and age is welcome.

Experimentation with game styles, play styles, GM styles, and writing your own stories would be encouraged.

We would probably meet in a public place (Dragon's Lair or a coffee shop) until the group has formed and everyone is familiar. After that I am willing to host the game.

My schedule is fairly flexible so let me know what you're schedule is.

Hello!

I'm an experienced DM who has been running 2nd Edition AD&D on and off since the early 90s. I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to the 4th Edition system and have been busy updating my campaign setting to the new edition. I have a couple of players and were looking for some new blood, especially those interested in controller or leader class roles.

My campaign is called The Sundered Empires and was set in a broken world in a post-Dark Age type of setting, leaning heavily on a gritty fantasy setting influenced by a Robert E. Howard type of world with its own history, pantheon of gods, cosmology and various other elements. It has evolved a lot over the past 20 years and I've been enjoying updating all my old notes and injecting some fresh ideas. You can see the work here:

http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/sundered-empires

We're all mature adult players with your normal adult obligations, so we seek to play on the weekend afternoon/evenings twice a month around my gaming table. We also welcome newer players or players new to 4th Edition (or curious about it) who want to get their feet wet with the rest of us. If the game and the campaign sound interesting to you, please feel free to drop me a message and we can talk more.

I look forward to hearing from you!

The Age of The Relentless is how the historians are calling these hard times. For the last hundred of years elementals, monsters and other strange creatures roam the wilderness in search of blood. They destroyed much of the civilized world for reasons yet unkown.

People live in great cities looking protection from their walls. Each day brings the worry of raids and the destruction of field crops. Entire kingdoms have dissapeared and only a few are left standing.

The authorities look for capable people and mostly mercenaries to protect the goods of trade caravans that mean so much to many small towns and villages. Is in this time when true heroes are needed, or at least those who act like them. Relentlessly fighting for the survival of Aludnath's people.

You are part of the organization called "The Hunters" who work as a mercenary group in charge of keeping the few cities of the kingdom of Norinias safe from monsters and elementals. These last few weeks there has been an increase on the sightings and attacks and several squads of the Hunters are being movilized all around the towns. There are also rumors that the leaders of the group might have gotten some kind information but they are not ready to disclose it yet. They have asked you to join Eagle Squad, a group of strange but strong adventures leading the investigation of these events.

We already have the following:
-Ranged fighter
-Druid
-Rogue
-Barbarian
-Witch
-Sorcerer

* All the classes/races found on the PRD permited
* Non-Evil Characters only
* As a note, all summoning spells back fire and it always brings an elemental who attacks anything on sight. Even you. These spells have been 'banned' in the game world.
* Any kind of travel outside the Material Plane is also impossible since the Relentless Age started. Does who actually manage to make it work are never seen again.

Hi Everyone.
I stumbled upon OP a few months ago and started using it to design my campaign in November of last year. So far, I am loving it. I am still learning my way around but the WIKI page set up fits in so well with the way my mind orders things that I can hardly imagine not using it for any future campaign. I am particularly looking forward to when we start playing, by which time I will have signed up to premier membership so me and my players can make use of the private forum.

I have been with Dungeons & Dragons since the Red Box (Basic) and have been playing 3.5 for the last 4 or 5 years. I am presently designing a campaign based in the same setting as a 2nd Edition Campaign I ran many years ago. Last year I ran Expedition to the Demonweb Pits for my players and am using the newly designed "Shimring" campaign so people can play those characters again.

I only just discovered this forum recently and this is my first entry. I look forward to getting more involved and have already shared some conversation with a couple of fellow DMs. I'll be taking my time, as I am still a player in two campaigns presently running but hope to have mine ready for my players when one of those two campaigns winds down later this year.

OP seems to have both a brilliant electronic canvas and a useful and stimulating community, so once again I say "Hi!" and look forward to more conversation later.

I've have been gaming for a a whiled now. 1999 - 2007 while i was in the Military. Take a few year off while i readjust to being out now. I'm looking into getting back into gaming. I've played almost every system out there and just would like to find some RP games that are more about the story then the normal look at what I can do types. I would love to find some in my area or online that can help me set things up and get started again. I have a lot of my old Characters and Love making new ones just for fun for different things.
I'm no GM but I do normal help out my old GM's with setting things up or coming up with new stuff for games. I thinks it more fun and help players when they put in there own input or Let the GM's know what on there minds about the games. As well it helps the GM find ways to keep the players want to come back for more.
Do drop me a line I'm here and around.
I live in the state of Vermont, Northeast USA. My state is tiny, and as such there are not many local people wanting to play the traditional tabletop format. I'm looking to play over Vent, with some sort of virtual tabletop, or die-rolling simulator.

Greetings to all, from one who is in Massachusetts.

I would like to know if there are any Shadowrun, Savage Worlds, GURPS or Traveller games around my area - Lynn, to be precise - and anything that isn't World of Darkness, Warhammer 40K, D&D or D20 will do (sorry, nothing against those who play, but those aren't my interest). Plus, I am looking to organize a game of Shadowrun (I don't want to run, but I will do so to get it going) in Danvers; how do I advertise for that?

I'll admit I didn't browse through every thread but I didn't see one, so here goes:
Essentially, just hope for this to be a sort-of "member's only" club for all of us GM's out there; somewhere to discuss our encounters, get advice, get to know each other, etc. I'll start.
I'm Josh, and I'm about to start running a new campaign using D&D 3.5e. I've done a bit of GM'ing in past campaigns, same game, but they always seem to fall apart due to other obligations. I'm looking for this new one to be more in-depth than campaigns I've run before, with more player involvement and roleplaying. Still planning it all out, though, trying to come up with interesting encounter ideas.

We've got a biweekly Sunday afternoon Song of Ice and Fire RPG campaign running in Sellwood (Portland, Oregon). We're looking for one and possibly two experienced roleplayers for this highly story-driven game.

You'll want familiarity with the George R.R. Martin book series- at least have read the first book. (SIFRPG is set well before the events of the novels, so plot points aren't repeated at the game table.)

The system isn't difficult to pick up- in fact, the game is story-driven to the point where the mechanics don't even come into play more than a handful of times per session.

The PCs are all part of a Northern noble house, House Slayton. We made this house using the SIFRPG rules, it is not in the books. New players can create members of the Slayton family or hirelings in the house's employ. You do have to be associated with the Slaytons in some direct way, but there should be some way to incorporate any reasonably decent character concepts.

Check out SIFRPG at http://www.greenronin.com/sifrp/.

You're welcome to email me directly at nivram509 at gmail dot com; I'll pass you along to our GM.

Hullo!

I have grown a bit desperate to run a game of "Monsters and Other Childish Things":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsters_and_Other_Childish_Things . I was hoping to do it live with my regular group, but that isn't happening, so I am turning to "Myth-Weavers":http://www.myth-weavers.com and a PbP campaign.

I've got some interest over there and seeing as I'm using Obsidian Portal to keep track of things and I like you guys quite a bit, I'm opening it to any interest here as well.

At the moment this is in the _planning_ stages, but if you're curious:
