The same Black Ships on the horizon, now menacing the New Frontier…

The expedition began on Banderhue (Ban-Der-Way), a T-Prime world in Banderhue subsector, Theta Borealis sector; with a University of Terrelay Research and Exploration Expedition forming; searching for a way to save their Republic and new allies to aid them. Citizens of all walks of life have assembled to journey with the Expedition, pooling their skills for success, many looking for adventure of the unknown. It is well, for adventure abounds in the worlds Beyond The Frontier. Now it is across the sector and has left Stella Maris, traveling to their final destination of the Gate Worlds.

i have played various forms of RPGs, including: D&D (all ed. except 4), GW, gamma world, CoC, space opera, CP2020, the list goes on.
I have played a multitude of character styles, but my true enjoyment comes from GM'ing.
i have personally run a few successful campaigns in D&D 2nd&3rd ed., CoC 1920s, warhammer FRP, CP2020, and a few others.
i tend to write story driven campaigns, (i like to add house rules for variation) and tend to get bored quickly of "HacknSlash" dungeon crawls.
my last campaign that i "tossed together" lasted about 4 years or weekly gaming. ;)
i have also began constructing core rules for a new game system based soley on D10.

Looking for players to join a high fantasy, less than totally serious Gurps game. It meets on Sundays 4-8pm in Raytown, MO. I've been hosting it since March, and we've barely gotten past the beginning of the story due to lack of constant players. Its a mid-evil setting world with 139 points (what the others have gotten to) with 25 disadvantages. Tech level 3, and 1500 to start. All the information I have gathered is on the wiki for the game. There is still more to add, and I'm looking at about the 30th of September for the next secession due to personal things I am doing the next few weeks. We also do things such as board or card games on non rpg days.

P.S. Ladies are welcome so my wife isn't the only woman in the group.

This is the question that I want to answer. We have all seen and heard the stereotypes of who game masters (or Dungeon Masters) are: nerdy, overweight, socially-inept nebbishes with far too much esoteric knowledge on their hands. But I want to know who they are. How they got into the hobby. What do they get out of it? Why do they keep getting behind the screens? How does affect their work-a-day life–if it does at all?

These are the questions that the Master of the Game project (http://masterofthegameproject.com) seeks to answer.

I plan on interviewing game masters from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels and posting those on this blog. I also intend to produce a survey that can help gather statistical data on game masters in order to spot trends and to further help illuminate and outline the varied lives we lead. Occasionally I’ll post anecdotes from my own experiences and also tips-and-tricks I’ve picked up along the way. Who knows? Maybe we’ll even be able to have guests that can share their tips with us as well.

Eventually I hope to compile my data and your stories into a book. A book that can serve as the definitive illustration who we really are. As game masters–and as people.

The world can either be a sandbox world or we can use the Shadow World setting.

Rule nr1. is to have fun so we will take the hero approach to your character creation where the players are the heros of the story and will be slightly better than a normal character would be.

The sessions will be played 1 time pr week preferably at a time that will fit both the European and Us players.

For a virtual tabletop I would like to try out the news Tabletop forge app. I have beta access to the development version that is based on their kickstarter project.

The game system is Rolemaster Fantasy Role Playing RMFRP (RM third edition) simply because that's what I am used to playing and that’s the system all my sourcebooks are using.
The campaign will be converted to the new fourth edition when it is available in Beta.

•Enemies will not always be monsters, and monsters will not always be enemies.

•Dialogue and problem solving heavily rewarded.

We got together with my best friend and started a character creation. I must say as a first time experience it was awesome. Our DM was very knowledgeable and helpful and made the transition really good. Having some basic knowledge from playing video games with the genre really helped me a lot. I ended up making a Shoal Halfing lvl 1 bard , level 3 cleric. I'm excited to start playing soon. We also play Munchkin and other games for a break here and there.

I have some experience with playing D&D but I am still rather new. I am open to any sort of game really, whether it be D&D, Pathfinder, Spycraft, modern day, horror based, etc.
My objective to starting this discussion is to try to find a group that would be willing to take me in and help me learn the ropes.
I know that may seem like a tall order but, I already have a basic understanding of game play (my own dice too :P) and now just really need to find that group.
I would like to think that I am a friendly person, a good listener and a fast learner.
Whether we play over the internet using Skype (or some other service) or we actually meet up in person I am open to either.

Most of us have been playing together for over three years now, so it's an established and consistent group. So if you're one of those GMs who has had trouble with players not showing up for your online game (which seems to be a problem) you wouldn't have to worry about that with this group.

Our game nights are Wednesday and Thursday at 12:30am ET. We usually play for about 3 hours on those nights. Playing late night can be rough, but this is the current schedule that nets all the players. Some of us might also be able to swing Thursday nights (around 8-9pm to 1-2am) as well, but there would be far less players.

We use MapTools for our tabletop and Skype for voice chat. We aren't into recording our games for podcasts or anything. It's just way easier having voice chat for online games and we like Skype. We use MapTools because it's easy to use, can be easily adjusted to any game system, and is of course free.

We've played plenty of games over the last several years as a group though most of it was using the Savage Worlds rules system. We had a lot of success with Hellfrost (Savage Worlds), we played a couple Savage Worlds converted Pathfinder games, played a few Star Trek (ICON System) games, and a few other random games as well. There are some games we played once and really enjoyed that we'd love a game master to take over like Rifts (Palladium System), BtVS (Unisystem), and Dragon Age. We also wouldn't mind trying out some games as well like Rippers (Savage Worlds), Battlestar Galactica (Cortex System), Serenity (Cortex System), EABA, and Song of Ice & Fire. There are of course many other games out there and many of them we'd give a shot to though as a group there are some genres, systems, and games we don't like.
