We're looking for some people interested in playing Ars Magica over skype or hangout or whatever other voice based software we can come up with.

Right now we've three people interested in it with more or less open schedules, and we're ideally looking for another 2-3 people to join us for a game every other week.

A lot of the fun in Ars Magica is the group discussion and input when creating the covenant and so on, but we've kinda talked a bit about it and came up with the following setup:

A summer covenant in the Normandy Tribunal, for a little bit of the whole range of story types that Ars Magica can offer. We're thinking 1 senior NPC magus might be good for a mentor role, but it could potentially be PC as well.

Let me know if you're interested guys!

Hi there, it's nice to meet you. I joined OP today because I'm hoping to find a regular game that I can play online. I don't really care if it's over the mic or done through typing; I don't care about the program either, though I mostly use Fantasy Grounds and think it's the prettiest looking of them all. I've looked through the FAQ on how to search and what other sites to join, which I have, but it's ending up being a lot of work for little result. Most of the entries I'm finding are months or even years old, so it's making finding any game difficult, let alone in a system and setting that I'm attracted to.

I've been spending some time copying the game I GM from its homemade wiki to this system, and I can already see how it will be easier to use. But I really joined up to try and find a new or open campaign. If you're a GM or player in a story looking to add another, please drop me a line. Nice to meet you, take care,
It seems there are quite a number of players in the area, but most are unaware of each other and find it hard to find each other to start games or find other players to keep games moving.

The idea is part GM/player recruitment aid on a local basis, and part full-fledged community with discussion, help and advice on tabletop rpg gaming in general. If you're in the area and would like to be a part of this, please let me know! I've started a community site "here":http://www.rpgsm.com
Long have I been a fan of Alan Moore's Watchmen universe, originally published in 12 issues between 1986-1987, and then as a 'graphic novel' with an rpg spin off (which i first read in high school), and a popular film spin off as well. Always wanted to play out Watchmen game so I've created this wiki page to finally make it a possibility.

Run on a fairly basic D6 system based on the original RPG modules licensed by DC to add canon, semi-canon lore to the Watchmen universe. This campaign take place during the years before during , and directly after the 'Watchmen' - "Crimebusters":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/watchmen-crimebusters/wikis/crimebusters are outlawed due to the "Keene Act of 1977":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/watchmen-crimebusters/wikis/chronology

http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/gurps-darklands

Wanna play GURPS 4e using Google+ Hangouts? Haven't decided on time and day of session, so be sure to tell us when you're available to game. 3 to 5 players needed to start, I reckon.

You play a 150-point character limited to -75 in disadvantages and 5 quirks. The background is that each PC has just been hired on to work as a mercenary.
You are not allowed Duty or Military Rank, as you’re all just freshly hired mercenaries. It is generally assumed that a PC is of Average Wealth and Status 0, as befits his new job. Other than that, you may build your character without unrealistic, exotic or cinematic traits, excluding the guidelines below. The setting is Renaissance Florence, around 1505 A.D. and with seemingly historical and realistic context. The Tech Level is 4.

If you are playing a wizard or paragon, see guidelines below. Keep in mind that the GM may inform you of setting details not included in this summary, as they are little known to normal people.

WIZARD CHARACTERS
The magic system in use is Threshold-Limited Magery (GURPS Thaumatology pages 76-82), following the standard spell prerequisites, with the following restrictions;
1) All VH spells are Secret Spells, requiring an adventure or Perk before a character can even attempt to learn it by study or character point expenditure.
2) Radiation spells are Banned. They do not exist.
3) Every arcane PC is required to take the disadvantage: Secret (Wizard) [-20], they get points for this as normal.
4) The default Threshold is 30, and the Recovery Rate is 8 per day. These can both be increased by purchasing the advantages on pages 78-79 (Increased Threshold [5/level] and Rapid Magic Recovery [5/level]). The Safer Magic Excess [10/level] advantage is also available, but Variable Energy Access is NOT. The Magery Limitations on page 79 probably aren’t available.

PARAGON CHARACTERS
Characters with access to holy miracles are called Paragons. They use the system laid out in GURPS Powers: Divine Favor, with the following rules;
1) Power Investiture (Divine Favor) [10/level] gives bonuses to Divine Favor’s reaction rolls, not its petition rolls (which is governed by Divine Favor itself).
2) Power Investiture (Divine Favor) also gives bonuses to Holy powers like Blessed, which the Paragon may also purchase.
3) You do not need Religious Rank or Clerical Investment to have Divine Favor, although it is not unusual for a Paragon to be a priest of a religion.
4) Being a Paragon requires -10 points worth of disadvantages that represent the moral code needed to access Divine Favor. Make a note of which disadvantages (you still get points for them, as normal) make up your moral code. Violating/ignoring those disadvantages may cut off your access to your Holy powers.

Alchemy is an available skill, although it’s typically only known to Wizards. It may require a good background to explain why your character has it.

Cultural Familiarities:
CF: Christian Regions is native for western Europe. Most characters should have it. Muslim is another major Cultural Familiarity in the world at the time.

Languages:
Italian regional dialect languages for major cities are Toscano (Firenze), Ligurian (Genoa), Lombardic (Milano), Veneto (Venezia), Romanesco (Roma) and Campano (Napoli).
Other Italian regional dialects are Emiliano and Romagnolo in the northwest, Calabrese in the far south and Umbrian between Roma and Toscana.
These dialects are different Languages, but fluency levels ‘default’ to one lower (e.g. Native Toscano to Accented Ligurian), two lower if dialects are from opposite ends of the country (e.g. Native Toscano to Broken Calabrese).
French, German and Spanish are frequently encountered languages, English and Swedish less so.
Latin is known and preferred by writers and the church. Hebrew, Greek, Arabic and Turkish sometimes known to special cases.

Recommended Books for this Campaign;
- Magic and Thaumatology (REQUIRED FOR WIZARDS)
- Powers: Divine Favour (REQUIRED FOR PARAGONS)
- Martial Arts
- Social Engineering
- Low-Tech and its Companions (QUITE HELPFUL)
- Hot Spots: Renaissance Florence (EXTREMELY USEFUL)

"From the whispering shadows of haunted Ustalav an ancient evil rises to grip the world in a new age of horror!

Amid the mists of this land of dark superstition and dread secrets stand both those who would defy the return of evil and those who would seek its terrible favor. Can the heroes discern their allies from their enemies in time to save a tortured realm from a tyrant’s return? Pathfinder’s darkest and most frightening campaign ever sets the heroes against the agents of Golarion’s most notorious villain, the Whispering Tyrant, in a terrifying trek across a land of lurking horror and ancient mysteries."

Name: "Carrion Crown":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/carrion-crown-klynnschultz (Not much there yet, as the game has not yet started.)
Location: A face to face game in Albuquerque, NM

I'm looking for 3-5 more players to start up the Carrion Crown Adventure Path for Pathfinder. I would like to use the Kirthfinder alternate rules, which can be found "here,":https://sites.google.com/site/triomegazero/kirthfinder but I am open to using traditional Pathfinder if that is the group preference. Even if you have never used either system, I am happy to teach you.

For those of you not familiar with Kirthfinder, it is a homebrew version of the Pathfinder rules. The nice thing about it is that it breaks things down to basic classes that you can then customize to make whatever kind of character you wish. At first glance it may look like it doesn't offer things like Alchemist or Cavalier, etc, but it is just a matter of choosing the traits and feats you wish to in order to create them. Also, most feats and abilities scale and so are useful throughout your "career".

As far as play time, I would like it to be an every other Saturday game. The time of day is flexible, though, and we can discuss what works best as a group.

Finally, I do want to mention to mention that we have a nearly 2 year old son, so if you are not open to playing with a child around this is not the game for you. He is very used to us playing, though, as we have 2 other regular games, and between my husband and myself he is generally not much of a distraction.

If interested, please post here or PM me.
Thanks for reading!

Hope I'm not misusing forum categories for my own nefarious purposes, but as a way to test the water with other gamers re: Mage: The Ascension (OWoD), in an effort to find either a game that might take me OR players that might like to start a Mage game up, I wanted to ask the following questions, just to hear how anybody interested understands these things. I'm not saying there're right/wrong answers so much a I'm saying what people expect out of these makes a difference to me:

1. How does one Mage recognize, understand, conceptualize, and talk about the [sphere effects & foci] of another awakened being with a paradigm substantially different from their own?

2. Do you have an easy, quick-and-dirty, or conceptually clear test for what is coincidental vs vulgar, and is it distinct from perceived/not?

3. In practice, what role does paradigm play in establishing what a given character can/not do with Magic?

I'll post my views on request or after a few days, but wanted to give anybody interested a chance first.

My Group is looking for new players to join the campaign we are currently doing. We have been wanting others to join to form a stable constant group. We do other systems besides Gurps, and are open to new ones as well. As a group we also will play different table top, or card games.

For the people we are looking for to join, all you need are a constant ride, your own dice, and not mind small kids. Also we are open to any new systems, or games. Group meets Sundays 4-8, with a typical hard cut off at 8.

The current game we are doing is a mid-evil style game, set in the mystical land of Somewhere Not Specific. The world is on a brink of war after 1000 years of unsteady peace and the Great Doombledur has collected heroes to stop it. It is up to them to bring a stable peace back to the land. A world with Dragons, monsters, and men dressed like women, only the heroes can stop the next Endless War.

The general stats are 139 points, 25 disadvantages. tech level 3 world. We are in need of a general wizard, or thief but that is not needed. We have a healer, barbarian, and a crazy psyonic. For more information here is the wiki:

Curling up in the sofa, I sip on the first cup of coffee after getting home from work. Time to update the campaigns. Outside it´s getting dark. Obsidian - how fitting.
I take this as an opportunity to say my formal hello to all fellow OPs. Cheers ladies and gentlemen!

I´ve crossed the mark of 40 years of age and use this escapism to pretend I´m somewhat of a writer. With the support of a team of ten co-writers it´s almost true. The combined effort to create something readable is a great satisfaction. To see something grow, larger than expected, with twists and turns in plots, not imagined possible at start. This is a reward in itself.

Currently I´m running "Antarctica 1983":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/antarctica-1983/wikis/main-page

At the same time I run two "almost lost" campaigns of Traveller and Pathfinder. Those are located in my revivification chamber.
"FreeTrader Maverick & The Approaching Storm":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/revivification-chamber

My 2014 project is a Blade Runner campaign that I´m building to run with Call of Cthulhu modern rules.

Besides the OP projects I´m running a game over at PLAY@YSDC. It´s a modern game set in New York in 1986 with roots in 1969 Vietnam.
On the same site the actual game of Antarctica 1983 is run.
If you want more meat to digest than the bare bones of the adventure logs kept here, check it out.
Well met and well played all fellow OPs.

Hello! I'm an experienced 3.5 DM looking for a game I can finally be a player in (DMing all the time can burn a guy out, ya know?). Below is a list of characters I have available to play with, along with the expected Tier of power they fall into. If none of these characters are acceptable, I can create one to fill a needed party role.

==Tier Descriptions included for your convenience==
Tier 1: Capable of doing absolutely everything, often better than classes that specialize in that thing. Often capable of solving encounters with a single ability.
Characters:
• An Illusionist (Notable ability: At high levels his illusions hurt more when disbelieved as they have shadowstuff backing them up and the enemy let down their guard when they saw it was "just" illusion)
• An Artificer (Specializes in golem construction and wields a magic Battlefist)

Tier 2: Has as much raw power as the Tier 1 classes, but can't pull off nearly as many tricks due to a lack of flexibility.
• An Undead "Channeler" (Build varies, but generally focused on overcharging abilities at the cost of his HP)

Tier 3: Capable of doing one thing quite well, while still being useful when that one thing is inappropriate, or capable of doing all things, but not as well as classes that specialize in that area.
• A Factotum (Jack of all trades, with a focus on assassination using a quickrazor)
• A Bard (Focused on buffing the party with songs)

Tier 4: Capable of doing one thing quite well, but often useless when encounters require other areas of expertise, or capable of doing many things to a reasonable degree of competance without truly shining.
• A Truenamer (An alternate caster that I adore for the flavor but generally sucks at everything)
• A Psionic Monk (Tons of attacks, insane movement speed, not useful for much else)

Note: My characters generally pull from a large amount of books, as I like to customize every detail of my character. This also allows me to scale up/down my characters according to party/campaign balance. I am fully capable of playing a Tier 1 character as if it was Tier 3 by customizing accordingly. I have no intention of "sneaking one past you" to bring a disruptive PC into the game.

My first choice of characters would be my Artificer, as it allows me to fiddle around with the character during downtime between sessions (providing you allow the use of Craft Points from Unearthed Arcana, which greatly reduce bookwork and time wasted for both player and character)

My personal houserule preferences are the E6 system (especially if gestalted with Oslecamo's Improved Monster Classes, a very well made homebrew compendium over on the MinMax boards.), The Vitality/Wound hitpoint variant in Unearthed Arcana, and the Armor as DR variant in the same book.

If you want to play in person, I live in the East Bay Area, California. If you want to play online, just message me and I'll clear the appropriate timeslot in my schedule.

Happy Gaming!

I'm looking to run a limited scope (2-3 sessions) game of Eclipse Phase in November. Games will be Friday or Saturday starting at 9 PM EST (UTC-5), depending on player availability. I already have a couple of buddies who are interested, but I'd like to add more players.

A little bit more about me...

I've have been gaming since B/X D&D, and GMing most of that time. My preferred genres include sci-fi, horror, and conspiracy. In more recent years, I have GM'd __Transhuman Space__, __Unknown Armies__, and __Shadowrun__. I haven't finished reading the EP core book yet, but the setting is just so freaking awesome that I can't wait to start putting something together.

My play style tends towards character-focused and roleplaying. I like setting up mysteries and conspiracies. I like characters that have their own goals and motivations. I'm more focused on story than action, although there is a time and a place for blowing s**t up.

It's Good to be Evil, and now you too can find the joy that being the villain can bring. Do you seek to gather minions to your cause? Do you have your own autographed copy of 'Evil Geniuses Guide to World Domination?" Then you too might be ready to join the ranks of an evil party who have recently set about to bend the weak willed to their way of thinking

Qualified respondents will be:
* willing to cut their party members some slack and warn them before drawing weapons. (Means PVP Strongly Discouraged)
* They will be ready to post 2-4 times a day in a play-by-post on the site forums, and follow the posting guidelines included in the site rules.
* They will want to play in a homebrewed Pathfinder world that is set in an early Renaissance fantasy world.

Simple version of this. I am recruiting one player for the It's Good to be Evil! campaign that is a play-by-post game hosted here on OP. I am looking for someone willing to post up to 4 times per day, and participate in evil acts. Some knowledge of the Pathfinders system would be preferred, but not required in any way.

Hi Obsidian Portal! As with the last couple things I've spent a lot of my time on in life, I was recently turned on to this site by an old online gaming buddy of mine. A working timeline of my own online/offline gaming is in my profile, but my main interests are/have been:

White Wolf/OWOD/Mage: The Ascension (also a fan of Werewolf, Mummy, Changeling, Wraith)
Holistic Design/Fading Suns
Hero System/Champions (for the system)
GURPS (for the supplements)
The City of Heroes MMO (which is going away)

I live in central Ohio, was a teen in the 80s, and have roughly half what it takes to make a good GM-- the half I lack being, people organizing skills. I love the format here as I've seen it on Obsidian Portal.

I'm currently playing in a private VtM chronicle, and looking at another GM migrating his naescent Occult Supers game here.

Also, I'm developing a Fading Suns chronicle with my adaptation of FATE mechanics-- something I've only really begun to play with, and in which I think I see great potential. The goal is to find a home for some of my friends who are Serenity/Firefly fans, refugees from City of Heroes who don't want to go play a strict fantasy game, and maybe resurrect some of the old Tabletop magic I've experienced with a couple groups in the past, many of whose members are still around.

Hello all Obsidianers,

Just signed up for the trial period of the Obsidian upgraded version. I'd love to make this the home of the homebrew, heroic-fantasy campaign I share with several gamers here in the Netherlands.
I know that forum rules ask not to put bug reports here, but I'd just like to sound out if the following seems familiar: each time I try to upload a fairly large text block into the wiki, the site crashes on me (stuck at 96% upload). I'm asking for feedback because atm, this is looking like a deal breaker to me.
(I know that I could break up the multi-page document into smaller sections, but my intent is to start off my campaign wiki with a "player info pack" that is essentially a big wiki entry. I do want to keep it that way... in a later phase, I would want to divvy up information into bite-sized chunks).

I'm Pirri and i'm new to this portal and forums in general. 8 years ago me and my friends started playing D&D, then 3 years ago we change to WFRP 2nd ed. because D&D just failed to entertain us. in both games i was GM if not for some period were i was too busy so i swapped the roles with a player.

some times ago i just taught i could design a game of my own and after weeks of brainsorming and the support of my friends here i am.
i'm here beacause tuesday we will start a new game! and when i saw this portal i saw a grat potential for the campaign! it is actually an experimental system losely based on wh40k dark heresy for the mechanics but steampunk in the spirit.

i don't want to be annoying so i just wish we could enjoy the portal together

Hello everyone, my name is Mike. I'm a veteran RPG players who's been rolling dice almost as long as I have been walking. I love gaming online and traditionally as with tabletop play. Most of my experience in RPG's comes from D&D 3.5, and D20 modern. I have dabbled in Shadowrun, whitewolf, Vampire the Masquerade, GURPS, Rifts, Pokemon, Naruto and most recently Pathfinder. About six years ago I began my first full length 3.5 adventure in a play by post environment. Playbyweb.com opened the door to the experience of pbp gaming. There are some incredible writers I met on that website and it fueled the game, along with it's inspirational roots in Baldur's Gate, to span over a year in solid gaming time. I have since DM'd for numerous games in other game systems in worlds that were either entirely my creation, or borrowed upon ideas from FF7, Naruto, Magic The Gathering, Mass Effect, Die Hard series, and countless other sources. Currently I run two separate but linked sci-fi freeform games in a play-by-post environment. I've been tabletop gaming with about six guys around my age or older, using the Pathfinder system. I've come to appreciate Pathfinders simplicity, and noticed the similarities between it and D&D 3.5. My current tabletop group are mostly active duty military and are deploying soon. I am looking to get back into the tabletop scene after they leave though, and have begun to construct a Pathfinder campaign for a group of 4 to 6 Lv7 PC's.

My experience is very limited since I've only played two games online (Infrno.net & DnD Virtual Tabletop). Both games didn't really teach me much, but that might be because I came in during mid-campaign not knowing any of the rules.
Since then, I've been posting on forums trying to find games without much luck.
