Anybody else seen it yet? I dragged some friends to the theater Friday night (since the game was canceled for R/L family reasons).

I won't spoiler anything. Yet.

I mostly enjoyed it; there were some good moments and great scenes. But my friends gave it a thumbs down, and after hearing their criticisms I have to agree that on reflection it wasn't a great flick. Better than Prometheus, yes, and way better than anything else after Aliens.

So I'd rank Covenant as my #3 Alien film, but it's a very distant third place behind the first two movies.

Thoughts?

Hi,

Please post the tickets IDs that you are referring to. We have never closed any issues received from our users. It looks like you are looking to discredit out website by posting these messages here without providing any specific information about what you are referring to."

Obviously, since they closed the help forum with no announcement I cannot give them the 30 tickets I still had open. Please speak up and let them know I am not lying.

There might be another bug and I'm running this by the rest of the community to see if it is happening to anyone else. When I log into OP, I get a jQuery error response to my screen instead of the actual page I was logging into. While I have successfully logged in, it doesn't actually send me to the proper page. If I go to the page a second time the page will load.

Has this happened to anyone else? Below is a copy of the error with my specific information removed. I'm asking this because I don't want to put an extra support ticket if someone has already reported it. This is only a recent, say within the last 2 weeks to a month, that this has been happening.

Sound Advice: No need to stop the action every time...

Sometimes you have to just make a decision and not always interrupt the game to check on the rules, thus slowing down play. When taking this decision, I would argue that the points raised by Bill Webb below are very useful to bear in mind:

From the essay "Knowing the Rules v Mastering the Game" by Bill Webb (Kobold Guide to Gamemastering C 2017 Open Design - Editor: Sean K Reynolds, p96):

"The real key to making a ruling without truly understanding the rules for a particular situation is to ask yourself five questions related to the ruling:

1. Does it make sense?

2. Is it fair?

3. How much does it matter?

4. Does it radically change the campaign?

5. Does it add to the fun of the group?"

Let's play the picture game! I'll post a picture then the next person will then post a picture that is somehow related to the first. Either through words, colors, subject matter, concept or whatever you feel connects the two. This is a game of "Cognitive Association":https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_%28psychology%29 which allows our brains to connect abstract ideas. This is very important to GMs making their own campaigns because a good campaign is full of interconnecting puzzle pieces. Games like this helps the brain recognize these patterns so we can better place them in our stories. (plus it's fun to post funny pictures and chat about it. Creates a sense of community.) It's also a practice in the way different people associate different things. As one person may post pictures with similar color palettes while another posts ones with the same subject matter. This helps GMs learn the differences between the way their players think as well and understanding helps grow stronger bonds.

Anyway, first pic:

Hi,

I was just curious about some of my fellow GM's processes for campaign creation. Specifically, when creating your worlds/settings, do you create directly into Obsidian Portal, using it as your primary medium? Or do you do your work offline in Word/Excel/etc. and recreate it in OP? Or some hybrid of the two?

For myself, I've been creating directly into OP. It may not be the wisest choice from a tech standpoint, but I find I'm not doing the work twice and I find the medium conducive to my creative process.

While it's certainly having some teething problems, and large amounts of stuff have to get changed around (especially on those pages that used a lot of HTML for things), the reforging can definitely produce nicer output - if you design your page for it.

I have been keeping up with the raging torrent of forum posts on the reforge in the multiple threads, and there are a lot of good suggestions throughout. The problem is that they are mired in complaints, anecdotes, explanations as to why its important to the campaign, and so on. This makes it hard for the folks behind the scenes to easily pick out just the suggestions that are causing folks annoyances. That's where this thread comes in. Please feel free to respond with suggestions, but keep external information out as well as emotional content. I'm not saying such statements aren't valid, just that this thread is not the place for it - think of this thread as a simplified "To Do" list on how to address some of the Reforge changes that went the wrong way. Please just try to keep comments constructive.

I will try to keep this initial post up to date with suggestions added as well as status updates from dev folks.

h3. Content area width

*Issue:* The new wiki content width is far too narrow.
*Status:* Unknown.
*Work-around:* For ascendant members who can change the CSS, Langy has provided code in numerous posts / threads.

h3. Edit box text color

*Issue:* Edit boxes now use light-colored fonts on light-colored background, making it difficult to read when making updates.
*Status:* Unknown.
*Work-around:* For ascendant members who can change the CSS, various individuals have provided code in numerous posts / threads that address different edit boxes, including the CSS edit box.

h3. Comments on logs

*Issue:* Comments can no longer be viewed or added on adventure logs, a vital feature to many PBP campaigns ran through OP.
*Status:* Commitment has been stated that this will be addressed; existing data is still in the database, it just isn't currently accessible.
*Work-around:* None at this time.

h3. Links

*Issue:* Links no longer appear as links, and links directed to nonexistent pages don't show differently.
*Status:* Unknown.
*Work-around:* Use full HREF tags with a color style.

h3. Editing forum posts

*Issue:* Existing forum posts can no longer be edited.
*Status:* Unknown.
*Work-around:* None determined at this time.

h3. Organizing forums with subforums

*Issue:* Forums are now a hodge-podge collection of threads, no longer organized by subforums, making them considerably less useful.
*Status:* Unknown.
*Work-around:* None specified at this time.

h3. Embedding pictures

*Issue:* Attempting to embed a picture causes the page to lock up; this occurs in forum posts and wiki pages.
*Status:* Unknown.
*Work-around:* None specified at this time.

h3. CSS Themes

*Suggestion:* To address some of the massive changes, a suggestion has been posed (thanks, Langy) to allow for all members to have access to a small selection of CSS themes, allowing them access to predetermined CSS settings that can alter the layout. The selection would be limited and accessed similar to backgrounds.
*Status:* Unknown.
*Work-around:* Customize directly through CSS, but only available to Ascendent members.

Please continue to add issues and suggestions after this and I will add and update as I can.

Some of you that have been here a while will remember Justin Andrew Mason, multiple CotM winner, and I think a Campaign of the Year as well.

He has his first Kickstarter up- I don't know him personally, but he was a big help when I started here, and thought I would spread the word.

I used OP in the past and really enjoyed the features and reading other campaigns but, I left when things on the site went a little "sideways" I guess you could say. I'm considering a return to OP and am wondering how the site is running now. (Features, ease of use, any tech problems still unresolved, etc) Thanks

OK. I've not touched these in a while and everything was fine. However I go to update the chartacter sin SHadows and suddenly the Banner is HUGE and the width of the pages is off

See HERE

Now as I said, not changed ANYTHING. Im pretty sure it has to do with the banner being bigger than anywhere else on the site. Any suggestions?

I find it really amazing that we are getting close to one hundred short stories in our campaign.

My players are really amazing, it's what keeps me going.

What would be a fun way to celebrate 100 stories?

OK, this is primarily directed at Kallak, but info from all would be appreciated.

I noticed that the blog has stagnated. I blame myself mostly for not continuing to submit articles to Kallak. Though others did follow my lead there.

So, is the blog now limited to just the COTM interview or should we start getting it going again? Is Kallak still the one editing and running it?

Thanks
