Hey Portalites,

I've been gone for a while. My Shimmering Kingdoms FATE game is still alive, but I only have three players and most times only two of them are present for the games. Therefore, I have not been inspired to do any work on the campaign. The only thing I am using at the moment is the Calendar. Ugh.

I am just saying hello to all my old friends here (you know who you are) and browsing a bit. I am happy that OP is still around. I hope it continues to be here. I've done a heck of a lot of work (just not recently).

I got my copy of Starfinder over the weekend and I'm liking the book so far. Obviously, the system is very similar to Pathfinder, however, there are a number of rules and clarification of rules that I'll likely bring over to my pathfinder games.

Good evening folks,

Just wanted to take a moment to say that my players have finished their 132 session (4.5 year) long journey in the world of Ahn-Azzex, defeating Sin Rothos (and his 36 attacks per round) and finally putting Whisper out of her misery, ending the threat of A'ki and the corruption of the timestream that he represented. Friends were made (Brother Samson, Dax Orbidal, Entyrronifus the Impaler) and friends were lost (Argle Fairweather, Summer Sky) along the way, it's been a heck of a ride.

Thanks again to everyone who followed along and I hope to see you again when the second part of the Wrath of the Fallen Goddess storyline picks up.

Now that I've read the novels, I wanted to read over the gaming page .... and I can't find it now. I've looked through the 3.5E, 5E, and Pathfinder sections to no avail. After a long and fruitful time at Obsidian Portal we have decided to move to another platform (a custom MediaWiki). I'll still use obsidian portal for other campaigns such as Star Wars, but the main Pendragon campaign has grown too large to easily manage the vast amounts of information it has grown into. The custom CSS became difficult to handle, and it was hard to manage and update.

I want to give thanks to all our fans and this great community. You inspired us to greatness and it was exiting and fun to read comments and to have the honor of being named Campaign of the Month. We'll be missing the community.

Having raised this issue on this forum a few months back, to predictable results, I'm curious whether or not this very important article about unacceptable behavior in the gaming community does a better job than I did. I have a daughter whom I want to get involved in gaming someday, so this issue hits close to home for me. I will call out misogyny, racism, homophobia, transphobia -- whenever I see them. Even if they are "jokes" because to do less, to be silent, is cowardly. "Just be cool" and "don't be so sensitive" are not nor will they ever be on my table.

"The majority of gamers do not engage in online terrorism, but are instead complicit in lower levels of harassment. It is almost impossible to convince gamers that sexist and racist jokes are unacceptable and that they make others uncomfortable and drive people off. Indeed, raising this issue at all often results in threats and more terrorism. "

So far, I really like what I've seen. I was one of the 3.5E hold-outs for a very long time (I never touched 4E), but this edition seems to have addressed and fixed many of the problems from other editions.

Greetings again folks,

I'm gonna keep posting. The only way to get more forum activity is to keep posting and bringing in discussions and items of interest.

I was first introduced to podcasts about 4-5 years ago, when a friend told me to check out "Happy Jack's RPG Podcast":http://www.happyjacks.org/ and I haven't been the same ever since.

I'd always thought of myself as a good gamer, but after listening to those guys' sage advice I realized I'd been a gaming douchebag for many, many years. Happy Jack's is definitely not for everyone - they're a bunch of buddies sitting around, drinking beer and talking about gaming as they crack NSFW ribald jokes and belch into microphones. But they give _really_ good advice, and they're very reminiscent of me 'n my buddies sitting around and drinking beer, cracking NSFW jokes...

Anyway, if I haven't scared you off them I give the Happy Jack's crew two very big thumbs up. I especially recommend Season 3, Episode 6 where they discuss a gaming nightmare story that has come to be known as "the Cheeseburger Incident." It's truly the stuff of gazebo-level legends.

I do listen to a few other podcasts as well:

* "Fear the Boot":http://www.feartheboot.com/ftb/ - These guys are much more scripted and edited, but they do provide a lot of good content.
* "Good Job Brain":http://www.goodjobbrain.com/ - A podcast completely devoted to trivia. Great ensemble cast, and highly entertaining.
* "We're Alive":http://www.werealive.com/ - Holy CRAP I loved this zombie-apocalypse radio drama podcast. The initial story has been completed, and they're planning to start up a new series sometime soon. Very well worth the listen.
* Escape Artists, Inc. has three short-story podcasts, all very well produced: "Pseudopod":http://pseudopod.org/ for horror stories, "PodCastle":http://podcastle.org/ for fantasy tales, and "Escape Pod":http://escapepod.org/ for science fiction stories. Between the three, they have well over 1000 free audio short stories available. Great stuff.

I'm considering trying to make another system my interest in the project depends on the feedback here so ill Post the basic idea of the class and some notes on how I want the game to run

Note: This game is actually based off Mafia/Werewolf/TownOfSalem I read the webcomic anti heroes and their werewolf game and it gave me idea's

Witch/Wiccan 4 hits

Magic is not dead it is like a plant withered with age but with care it can also bare the seeds of something stronger something to last

Class You are a Witch while you may call yourself anything from a Warlock to a magician you power is the same as any practitioner

Alignment Neutral Shifting You have no side at the beginning but may choose to side for or against Mafia or Citizens Or Against both to side with Killers

Proof You may present proof of your class in the form of a Ritual by performing one of these rituals you may aid or strike at targets from the privacy of your home

Disturbing Dreams: your target has the most disturbing dreams they take one hit of damage the victim knows the witch targeted them

Power of Night Your Target Heals One extra Hit when they rest at night the Victim Doesn't know if it was a witch or a doctor that visited them

Witch's Revenge If you die the night you perform this you are able to tell everyone who killed you you may decide not to.

Power During the day one person you touched must use their power on the target of your choosing you may choose not to use this power

Restrictions You may not be Included in Mafia Decisions You May not Vote at Town Meetings

I'm still working on how all this would work. This is more or less a free form version of the game the goal isin't actually to get all one side killed but to kill off anyone in "your" way for example the town might tolerate the mafia because they bring guns and weapons and can protect the town better then an Investigator

I also plan for monsters to start showing up and an actual combat system hence why the witch's buff is powerful

The actual goal is to keep the town "alive" as long as possible slowly improving it and ""unlocking" new classes to play as EG you can play with from the start but you can't start as say a nurse/doctor unless you have a medical facility of some kind

This has been a long time coming but it's time to make it official. Sometime in the next week or so, Le Ballet de l'Acier, my featured campaign wiki, is going away for good. I stopped adding content to it years ago, out of frustration with the extended neglect and arbitrary changes which eliminated the functionality of my wiki by the various developers controlling Obsidian Portal, but the last straw came with the change three days ago of Photobucket's terms of service which would require me to pay $400.00 a year for the privilege of hosting images from my library on other sites. With the change, Le Ballet was gutted, as were most of the images on my two blogs.

I joined OP over eight years ago, was an ascended member for two years, but I never renewed because even then the site suffered from malignant neglect by the original developers that no one since has improved upon but rather complicated even more, most notably with the Kickstarter. I grew tired of having to repair things the developers broke, to the point where I simply stopped adding extensive new content, just keeping it in a file on my computer where only I could screw it up. In the process OP lost an ardent advocate.

Photobucket has also been a pain in the ass, as ads became more and more intrusive over the years, slowing the site dramatically, but the ads were the price I paid for storing images and I accepted them accordingly. Apparently my server-crushing 71 MB of storage and links to my wiki and blogs were too much for Photobucket, which decided that my massive bandwidth demands could no longer be accommodated.

I'm disgusted with the whole experience.

* *Fuzzy Heroes* (Fuzzy Heroes) - Stuffed animals vs. action figures in a simple, inexpensive and fun tabletop "miniatures" combat game. I first played this with my then-five-year-old son, and we had a total blast. I've run it at the convention before, and I've been asked to do so again. _Hell_ yeah.
