I often need to duplicate a campaign for some reasons like:

Splitting a gaming group on 2 separate campaigns without having to re-create a new campaign again

Using a campaign website as a template because I want use it for two or more gaming groups

Do you think it may be possible to add this feature? A simple button for duplicate all the campaign :)

It would be nice to have some sort of natural language interface for each campaign, so instead of trying to search, all of the campaign's information will use AI. For instance, I can ask "what was 's father's name?" and it will search the characters and the history of the campaign and give me back the answer.

It will be very useful for campaigns that have a lot of NPCs and history, when it's hard to remember every single event that happened.

You could also have the AI be different for players and DM, so that the DM has a version that also looks at the DM secrets and pages. That way, the DM can very easily find what he's looking for without browsing or searching.

This was a little annoying when it started because obviously a stats page has a lot of STR +5, etc. I was working around it by using the HTML entity instead "& plus ;" (no spaces)

Recently that's stopped working on the display view of the wikis, but it's still there on the page preview.

Hi, I'm running few big campaigns, slowly moving them to Obsidian Portal. What I'm missing though is kind of a "second" Adventure Log tab, to separate news that go around the world, stories that are happening in the background and developments in cities my players' visited and still trying to keep tabs on. Sorted chronologically, just like regular Adventures log, where we put the team's accomplishments and not Wiki, where we're putting general world information.

E.g. my players are in City A. So we put the City A info in Wiki and then we describe in Adventures Log, what happened during session. The players learnt there's a faction trying to overthrow local government, yet they move to City. Still they have a group of friends, like a NPC party, that sends them updates. Sometimes I write those as a GM, sometimes they are being created using some random generators to see what happened in City A, when they are in B. I would love to put those reports and news like an Adventure Log, yet still separated.

One thing I'd love to see added/redesigned is recurring calendar entry automation. Something along the lines of pick a day of the week, a start time and end time, a location, a description, an end date for the recursion, and then check a box to set how often you'd like it to be built on the calendar (weekly, biweekly, monthly). Click build and viola, you just saved yourself from manually entering all of that info 52 times a year (or however often you play). It isn't flashy but it's convenient.

It would be REALLY helpful to be able to erase folders, and bulk select pictures to be moved or deleted en masse. Fortunately I just started on the campaign, so it won't take me long to just start it over, which is what I'm going to do. But if something like this were to have happened after having spent a long time on it first it would be very frustrating.

This way you could put some custom functionality on say the left or right hand column and still use a DST in the middle. I know we could use a DST and CSS it around the page, but if there were a DST that you'd want on lots of pages (I was thinking of my discord integration) and you also wanted to use a DST for content formatting or otherwise you'd be able to have it all.

If I had to pick one single thing that I'd love to see long-term:

I'd love the ability to create a child campaign site that is linked to an existing site. I tend to run multiple games in the same setting, it would be fantastic if the child site was able to directly link to the main site directly so that I could, in essence, build a site for my homebrew setting and then do linked sites for each individual campaign so that I don't have to port over the same data every time I want to make a new game. Bonus points if items and characters in the child sites automatically propogate to the main site. I realize that I could sort of do this now and just use external linking but that's far less convenient.

In long-term campaigns we often see important NPCs who die for one reason or another, but their information still is important to the past chronicle of the game. Currently the "Characters" page has sections for Player Characters and Non-Player Characters. How about a check box in the character stat form when you go in to edit a character that would move them to a third section: Deceased Characters? We already have one for Player Character, one for GM Character, etc. This would just be a "Deceased" check box and a third stratification on the actual page.

It would go a long way towards helping to organize campaigns and not have to search through pages upon pages of characters to find one that might be dead. Even alphebetized, the NPC lists can get very long. Anyway, just a thought.

Sorry if this has been requested before. I did, ahem, search for them but I couldn't find anything.

Any healthy campaign is likely to end up with a lot of media files in the media library, and editing/changing/renaming/deleting those files becomes increasingly problematic as the size of the library grows.

So, it would be really useful to have the following features:

A button beside a media file that performs a search and lets you know which wiki pages/adventure logs/character sheets etc link to the file. I get that it probably couldn't catch links that people have made with html, but searching for OP's standard linking system would catch most cases.

The ability to search in the media library by file name.

Sorry if they have been asked about before.

If they already exist, I'd appreciate a "heads up" on where to find them.

Thank you kindly.

Option to make Search Tools Visible to Non-Logged in Users?

Hi, I was working on a response to a threat about 'backlinks' and in the process noticed that anytime you click a Tag or on the 'Search' button takes you directly to the OP login page!

Could these pages be fixed to have a option to allow these features to work without being logged in?

I think this would actually fix the 'backlinks' request as users can't actually see how campaigns that have big wiki's (like mine) can easily manage a lot of information simply using tag and search options - and I'd like my non-logged in players to have the ability to find things on OP - and hopefully see this as a reason to take the step to register :)

I would find it really useful to be able to pull a report to see, in one place, any unused wiki-links (link created on the fly but wiki page never created).

It would be a good tool to see the 'shape' of the campaign and see where my attention can be most effective. I'm new to this site so if this exists already in some form, let me know!

Absolute Killer Feature: Backlinks (What links here?)

You write up some town descriptions. You list and link 7 or 8 NPCs that are there. Between all the NPCs, they worship 2 gods with churches there. There's a pretty rad item you want the players to get, so you build a questline that leaves from the town and eventually meanders back. Oh, and that traveling merchant makes a stop here on the 5th of every month.

Excellent, you've got enough of the town written out that you can run a few sessions before you need to develop it further. Nice, just in time for your session on Saturday.

But wait -- you still need to notate the town on each of the NPCs' pages. Also, you're trying to keep a list of the churches on the gods' pages too. That merchant, too. Oh, and that calendar you're trying to track. The questline. That item. And then there's the inevitable characters and events that you improvise during the session... plus one of your players (you know the one) keeps throwing you total curve balls. The last town that he was in, he hired a mercenary crew.

There's one feature that would simplify 90% of this and make your wiki immediately navigable: backlinks. You've seen it. It's a standard among wikis. Every Wikipedia page has an index if you use Special:WhatLinksHere/(the entry), but even easier to find is the list at the bottom of any of WikiMedia's items. It has to be built on the back-end and if the hosting software doesn't natively support it, it's complicated, but it's also the single most useful feature I can imagine. It's also no doubt a big reason why people initially come to a site that advertises itself as a wiki for your D&D campaign.

As far as implementation, we all just need to it to catch the referrers from within our own wiki, so it doesn't need to be more robust than that. I'd like to see a campaign-wide checkbox on the settings page with little "except this" checkboxes on each article that remove the section from display, but honestly even the most basic version of this would be *immensely* helpful.

Radio buttons would be great. I've got a campaign that I think has a solid shot at Campaign of the Month but I need to shield IP from public access in order to make it public. If there is any way to implement controls that would allow me to set certain pages to GM and Players Only, Friends Only etc. would be infinitely useful.

As a game designer I need to tread more carefully around IP issues than most fo the GMs on OP. Merci in advance either way!

So yes, I am saying that Obsidian Portal needs to advertise more. Frankly, it is an amazing tool and more need to know about it. Word of mouth isn't going to do it either. I'm tired of seeing ads for World Anvil come up in my Facebook feed, I want ones for the toolset i use and like. Get some YouTubers who do RPGs to work with you guys and advertise OP.

While I'm ranting i'm aslo gonna ad dI miss the vibrant forums that were here ebfore the Reforge and desolation it left in its wake destroyed the community. We need to finally put that behind us and everyone needs to get more involved. And one guy posting 8 topics at once is not a lively forum community, its annoying

Hi, I'm new to Obsidian Portal, I checked to see if this has been asked before but it doesn't seem to be a recent topic?

When my players visit my new Obsidian Portal > https://thedomainofdreadcouncilmeeting.obsidianportal.com/

The only option is to 'Become a Fan' - implying theres' no way for them to join the campaign - which is super weird?

Right now I've only managed to get one player who's been able to figure out that they have to sign up separately, go back to the campaign and 'follow it' - then let me know so that I have to manually find their account and send them a invite, they accept and only THEN they can take part...

It seems a obvious fix to have the option to show a 'Join Campaign' button next to the 'Fan' button to allow players to send a request to the Campaign owner to approve their membership.

Platforms like Roll20 and DnDBeyond also allow DM's to generate a link that will enable players to jump straight into the game without needing to know email addresses or usernames.

This is a really important feature that is missing for Campaign owners - so could we also get the option to generate a unique URL to share with their players which will automatically allow them to join the campaign on signing up - which is great both for the Campaign owners and Obsidan Portal as a whole.

By doing this it becomes possible for people to easily bring a entire group of players into the campaign at once - which is key to getting the campaign off the ground.. and making it worth paying for the 'subscription'.

If however there's some 'secret option' to fix this problem please let me know.
