Greetings everyone!

Some of our most interesting ideas are also sometimes the concepts that we don't end up using. Maybe they don't work in the setting that the game is made for, maybe they complicate the rules too much for your TTRPG system of choice, or maybe they just aren't a good fit for your current player group but maybe someday you'll find a group that wants to run it and is open to new ideas. Whatever the reason, your idea has been sitting in the corner collecting dust, just waiting for its time to shine.

On that note: What is your most interesting worldbuilding idea that you've never had a chance to use?

5 hours ago I found A Fan Made Star Wars RPG on the net and I decided it would be amusing to create A Stars Wars RPG Version of my favorite character from A Fan Made Code Lyoko Story that isn't in the actual TV Show

Name

Kai Takero Ishiyammi

Gender

Male

Race

Human

Stats

Basic

I want him to have a very high level of Dex, have a high level of both Strength and Perception and I want his Knowledge, Mechanical and Technical Skills to all be a small bit above average

And

That gives Dexterity 4D, Knowledge 2D+2, Mechanical 2D+2, Perception 3D, Strength 3D and Technical 2D+2

Skills

As his Official I:D is A Skilled Travelling Gun for Hire I put 2D in Blaster

In the original timeline he had at least basic training in scavenging, searching and survival skills, like most people on his home-world, so I take 1D in The Skills Search and Survival

On such a world having at least A Basic Ability in Medicine would be very useful so I take 1D in First Aid

Being good at hiding would be very useful on his world under Xanna so I take Hide 1D

And

As their were times when being able to bargain with off worlders for supplies would help him to survive I take 1D in Bargain

Cash

He won’t have had much in the original timeline but he’d have had some

But he was send into the past to Stop Xanna so his World would have given him every single Credit they could afford

What’s more with the skills, abilities and uncertified training once in the past he’d have earned a lot more

And

I decide that GM Kai Counts as Wealthy, this means that he starts with 2D6x400, for a laugh I make the roll and he ends up with 3,600 Credits

Advantages and/or disadvantages

1’s I made that suit the guys background and history

Knowledge of The Future that’s very limited yet very dangerous and theirs likely hundreds of millions that would kill to get it -4D

He knows of The Birth of The Empire and how evil it was rumored to be but at the point in time he came from was no prove and seeing how bad The Republic was he refuse’s to believe it was worse

And

If it is worse he intends to use his knowledge to let allow The Empire happen but in a way that guarantees its a democracy

Official 1’s

Fanatic +3D

Being from after The Birth of The Empire but being before The Battle of Naboo he is devoted to allowing The Empire to happen but in a way that makes it a democracy

Extremely competitive +1D

Nightmares +1D

Strangely about the events on his world thanks to Xanna and has nothing to do with The Empire

Argumentative +1D

It’s a unexpected side effect of being A Time Traveller

And

All in all I use those +4D to take The Force Powers Control 1D and Sense 1D and The Skills Lightsaber Combat 1D and Lightsabre Repair 1D

Gear

Because of his mission he will be very will equipped

Almost all of his initial stuff consists of everything that in his time his home planet believed would be used that was either unbroken or broken but reparable

Naturally some of this is nicked, either in his present/our future, or in his past/our present

And

In the end I decide that he has the following stuff

2 sets of good clothing

1 Heavy Blaster Pistol

1 Com-link

1 Sabacc Deck

1 Star Wars Version of A Mini Laptop

1 box of 8 50 minute holovids

1 Recording Unit

1 Vacc Suit

1 3-use Med Pack

1 utility belt

Move

10/12

Force Points

2

Class

Type

Travelling Gun for Hire

Somehow his Jedi Potential was overlooked

But he has taught himself a bit about The Force

And

Both his origins and home-world are completely unknown

Background

Born of The Planet Lyoko 5 years before The Battle of Naboo and shortly after his 5th Birthday, so around the time of The Battle of Naboo his Home Planet was taken over by A Insane A:I called Xanna

With the people of his world barely surviving under Xanna’s reign by the time The Republic learnt what had happened 10 years had passed and The Clone Wars had just started

Quick witted and quick thinking the people of his world managed to survive long enough to destroy Xanna then create a device that would send the now 23 year old Kai back in time to 10 years before The Battle of Naboo to stop both Xanna and The Sith or 5 years before he was born

Those 23 years work out at him being 5 at the time of The Battle of Naboo, 18 at the time The Empire was founded and it was 5 years later, o when he was 23, that news but no proof of The Empires true colors 1st reached his Home World of Lyoko

Sadly Kai was jaded, annoyed with his life and life in general and more then a bit bitter at The Republic for taking 10 years to realize what was going on then using he outbreak of The Clone Wars to justify ignoring it

Even worse is that by the time he came The Empire had only started showing its true colors within the last 7 months and because he refused to believe the rumors thinks The Empire was a lot better then The Republic and other then stopping Xanna’s creation, he fully intends to let history repeat itself

He’s now trapped 28 years in the last, which is 5 years before he was born, he has no way to return to his time, even if he could he wouldn’t as he likes it in the past and he’s completed the only part of his 2-part mission he ever intended to complete

Interestingly when the events of Phantom Menace happen he plan is to let Anakin be taken in by The Jedi but a year or 2 after it he plans to buy 3 of Anakins 6 Slave Friends

They are/were The Human Slaves Amy and Kitser and The Rodian Slave Waldo, the reason why is because 4 years after Phantom Menace they and their owner crash on Lyoko

They and their owner join the Anti-Xanna Resistance Movement and The 3 13 year old Slaves quickly became Kai’s best friends but sadly 9 years later they died but they died in a way that saves both Kai, The People of Lyoko and The Planet of Lyoko

And

Interestingly in the original time-line he wasn’t Force Sensitive but 1 of the effects of travelling 28 years into his past was that he became Force Sensitive

Objectives

Main

The 1 that he completed as part of his back-story that has no effect on the campaign

Save his, in his time, The Planet Lyoko by stopping The Creation of The Evil A:I Xanna

The 1 he hasn’t yet done

Use his knowledge to ensure that even though The Empire still gets created it gets created in a way that ensures it becomes A Democracy

Moderate

The only 1

Make sure that within A year or 2 of The Battle of Naboo he has the funds to buy The Human Slaves Amy and Kitser and The Rodian Slave Waldo that in the original timeline eventually became his best friends but in the end died to save both him and The Planet Lyoko

Minor

Find some way to justify freeing The Human Slaves Amy and Kitser and The Rodian Slave Waldo that, like I said earlier, in the original timeline eventually became his best friends but in the end died to save both him and The Planet Lyoko

I've decided to do something I've never done before and become A Player in A 2nd edition WFRP Campaign but I have a problem. Why would such a person become A Adventurer?. Any suggestions?

The facts are that I ended up with A Noble and after rolling on Tables a friend made to determine my characters family I ended up with a very unusual character

My characters mother was A Very Senior Baroness, his father was A Very Minor Duke, when he was born his mother was 19 but his father was 54 and as his mother was his fathers 2nd wife and 4th lover he had 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 nieces and 2 nephews that were between him and his fathers Dukedom

But because my characters the only child of a only child theirs no one between him and his mothers large Barony and my character also inherited The Dowry that his father gave his mothers father

That dowry was 6,500 Gold Coins worth of Land and Property that nets him 475 Gold Coins per year, another 1,100 Gold Coins in cash, 3 Crates that all hold 40 4-pint bottles of best quality Sherry, 1 Pegasus Egg that can still be hatched, 1 Magic Dagger -no powers but can harm foes that can only be harmed by magic and 1 Magic Money Bag -gives him 1 Gold Coin per day

So why would someone whose got 1 very large Barony, another 6,500 Gold Coins worth of Land and Property that nets him 475 Gold Coins per year, another 1,100 Gold Coins in cash,, 100 bottles of best quality Sherry, 1 Pegasus Egg that can still be hatched, 1 magic weapon and 1 magic item become a adventurer

What should my brother do?

My brother lives with our parents, has been doing A 4th edition Warhammer Roleplaying Campaign were both our mother and our father control 3 players, but he wants to bring back a major villlain but that's A Problem. What should he do?

The adventure he appeared in had the players deal with A 4th edition Warhammer Fantasy RPG version of The Mask from The Fighting Fantasy Gamebook Spellbreaker and he got caught but he escaped and wants revenge

As a bit of background we faked Alive not Dead Warrants, met up with his followers, gained their and later his trust and much later infiltrated his gang with 8 of our allies, we bided our time, when the time was right we betrayed them, we captured them, we did it by drugging them they tying them up then turning them in

My brother was planning for our parents/The Players to locate The Outlaws, get away from them then either get The Authorities or lure them into a trap by the authorities, The Mask was designed to be far to strong for the to even be able to survive a fight, but my brother had forgotten that his parents characters had taken Kurts during Night of Blood, they still had them and they used them

I think it worth mentioning that the reason The Outlaws so much loot, all of which our Parents characters got, is cos my brother GM figured that our parents would be lucky if their players even got half of it

Its made worse by the fact that we were supposed to help capture them by gaining their trust then leading them into A Ambush, which means that whilst he only acquired Rank 4 42 days ago our Pcs are only approximately % of the way through Rank 2

More info on The Mask

Info on The Mask

At the time we captured him The Mask was A Rank 3 Outlaw that within The last 42 days he has become A Rank 4 Outlaw

To be exact at the time we defeated him he was within a maximum of 6.3 weeks he'd be A Rank 4 Outlaw, we just delayed by 14 months

That is because he'd been planning this for almost 10 years, he was very close to becoming A Rank 4 Outlaw and if everything went to plan then within 400 hours of him completing The Rank 3 Outlaw Career he'd become ruler of A sizeable Outlaw Domain, which would make him A Outlaw King

He only escaped from Prison after just over 14 months inside, which means he escaped roughly 10 months

In the end we only delayed him becoming A Rank 4 Outlaw, he's now A Rank 4 Outlaw, he rules A A sizeable Outlaw Domain, commands a total of 6 Groups of Outlaws and has enough followers to make A force of 1 100 strong Company, 1 30 Strong Platoon and 1 5 Strong Squad

As well as which he has managed to acquire rulership of sizeable Outlaw Domain and his domains civilian population are all too scared to even think about going to the authorities

In his Outlaw Domain are 16 large Farms, 8 fairly large Farming Communities, 2 fairly small sized Villages and The slightly smaller then normal Fortified Tower were he lives

And

The Masks Domain has a civilian population of 784 adult males, 767 adult females, 493 female children and 429 boy children

His Army of Followers

His 89 lesser followers

I can go see the templates that exist now and I have read the entire article regarding them but I still cannot find anyplace that will allow me to apply them - actually put one on my campaign site for use.

Back in November 2,013 I GM'd A 1st editon Dragon Warriors Campaign with 4 old School Friends of mine, we only did Adventure 1, then they moved because a old friend of theirs that I hated offered them a job, 11 days ago they moved back into the area and they want to restart

The thing is that even though I'm eager 2 things happened in Adventure 1, 1 has t made 1 Pc far too powerful and the other could give the entire group great riches. If I do restart then what should I do?

The 1st adventure was King in The in The Mound

The 1st problem was that I decided that it would by a good idea to add A Pool of Pool of Stygian Waters to The Kings Treasure, which would be The true treasure of The High Kings Hoard

Even though bathing in A Pool of Pool of Stygian Waters can kill you in a way that can kill you in a way that will make it impossible to be resurrected 1 Pc decided its The 1st adventure and that as we hadn’t quite finished we all had 0 experance, very little loot and that he had nothing to lose

So he had his character take the chance and it paid off big time

The Pc choose to have his character bathe 61% of his body in The Stygian Waters, this gives him A 61% immunity to the regular attacks of roughly 55% of the enemies in the game and roughly 74% of the regular attacks of roughly 74% of the enemis in the official adventures

But it had A 25%+61% ot 86% of killing him, which means that he only survives on A 1D100 roll of A 14 or less and if it does kill him, which is almost guaranteed, and if it does then it does so in a way that means that he or she can never resurrected

By sheer luck the 1D100 roll came up as A 12, which means that he survived, which also means that not only does my character survive he now has A 61% immunity to all damage that isn’t caused by Spells or Magic Weapons

Even worse is that in our campaigns that includes the teeth and claws of Dragons, The Punch’s and only The Punch’s of The weakest of The 4 Types of Lesser(?) Deamons and The attacks of all Lesser Undead and some Moderate Undead such as Regular(?) Wights but not Greater Wights

Almost as bad is that I was foolish enough to give The Hoard A 10% chance of having 1 Dragon Pearl, A 5% chance of having 2 Dragon Pearls and A 1% chance of having 1 Dragon Pearl per Pc and I rolled A 1, which gives all 4 Pcs 1 Dragon Pearl each

The worst thing is that if A Dragon Pearl is placed near something of use or value it will multiply it by a magnitude of x5, I changed it so that once activated The User has to wait 3 hours before its power works, its power only works on 5 items per day and I also changed its power so that it only works on cash, food, drink, items of cheap jewelry and eggs of creatures with A Fairly High Sale Value, but with certain limits

So how can I cope with the fact that if they want to then once per day The 4 Pcs can each change 200 Silver Florins to 1,000 Florins, 25 weeks worth of very high quality food into 125 weeks worth of very high quality food, 15 3-pint bottles of very good quality alcohol into 75 3-pint bottles of very good quality alcohol, 12 items of cheap jewelry worth up to 18 Florins each into 60 items of cheap jewelry worth up to 18 Florins each and 1 egg of A creature with A Fairly High Sale Value into 5 eggs of A creature with A Fairly High Sale Value

That means that they if they want to they could change a total of 800 Silver Florins to 4,000 Florins, 100 weeks worth of very high quality food into 500 weeks worth of very high quality food, 60 3-pint bottles of very good quality alcohol into 300 3-pint bottles of very good quality alcohol, 48 items of cheap jewelry worth up to 18 Florins each into 240 items of cheap jewelry worth up to 18 Florins each and 4 eggs of A creature with A Fairly High Sale Value into 20 eggs of A creature with A Fairly High Sale Value

Bit showing off here but it really worked out. I have a warlock (archfey) who i am playing very druidy, i got the spell summon fey spirit which lets me chose out of 3 powers the spirit gets.

I made 3 seperate personalities and backstories for differnt spirit that know me perqonalky. The summon spell say you just pluck any spirit but because i made these elaborate backstories the DM totally rolled with it and there was some awesome roleplaying with the entire party. Key is to also put the stats roght there for the dm too.

It really helps the dm to essentially create fully rounded npc's so they dont have to do so much creative thought.

You can see my spirits in my bio at the end:

https://vikings-jaa.obsidianportal.com/characters/gudmund-brynjarsson

One thing i toyed with was putting them as separate characters in obsidian portal but as there are already so many npc's and as yet no accordion function in the characters page i thought to put them all in one place.

Has anyone else come up with backstories fir their summoned beings? Or have any other ideas to flesh out summoned beings?

So, when I start a new campaign, I always like to come up with ten or so capaign specific questions that I want the players to think about to use in creating their characters and backstories. I feel like it helps ground their characters in the world and story and gives them and myself a stepping stone into keeping them involved both in the plot as PCs and invested as players. What kinds of questions do you like to ask your players when starting a campaign? Is it setting specific? Do you have a form survey you like to send out?

I've just started play with an Ambassador in a game that's clearly more Edge of the Empire in nature.

My character Naomi is the daughter of a former storm trooper and a member of an Imperial family that got her to divorce her husband as he wasn't considered suitable for someone of her standing.

Raised unaware of her mother's side of the family things came to a head when someone claiming to be related to his ex-wife turned up but was shown to be a fraud resulting in a fight forcing her father to tell Naomi to flee as the charlatan called in backup.

All she knows is the fight between them and her father brought in the authorities who arrested everyone but they disappeared en route to lock up and she couldn't find out what happened to them.

Working on various freighters as manual labor she eventually crossed paths with the ship she started the game on learning they were pursuing a freighter because someone aboard had stolen something from them.

Can you give me any advice on running a diplomat character in an edge of the empire game?

I'm wondering if I missed something important.

Thanks in advance.

Bolin stumbled over a tree root and crashed hard to the forest floor. Exhausted from weeks of fighting through the thick underbrush of the ancient woodlands, Bolin cursed as he pushed himself up to his knees.

"This is pointless, Kassa!" Bolin grumbled to his sister as she helped him to his feet. "We've been searching for these stupid woods for weeks now with nothing to show for it. And for what? Some rumor you heard at the tavern?"

Kassa pushed her damp hair out of her eyes and looked pleadingly at her brother. "We have to keep looking, Bolin. I'm tired of our people—our family—being rounded up link cattle and forced to work for House Thrune, aren't you?"

Kassa leaned wearily against a tree, her countenance a mixture of exhaustion and anger. With a deep sigh, she straightened herself back up and took the lead "C'mon," she called back to Bolin. "Just a few more hours while we still have some daylight. I feel like we are getting close. If anyone can help us, theTinkerer can...if we can find him."

Legends tell that deep in the Whisper Woods resides a reclusive gnome, an artificer whose skills surpassed all others. His clockwork constructions caught the attention of the Chelish Hellknights who sought to use the constructs to maintain order and squash dissension across Cheliax. The artificer did not want to see his creations being used to subjugate others, and refused the Hellknights' order to produce an army of clockwork automatons the Infernal Magistrix. One night, the tinkerer melted down his constructions, destroyed his research, and disappeared. The Hellknights searched for the tinkerer for many years with no luck in finding him, other than that any Hellknight search parties that journeyed too far into the Whispering Woods have never returned. It has been over a century since any Chelaxian Hellknight has ventured deep into the Woods.

The Tinkerer is an ancient gnome, a master artisan, that has resided in the deepest recesses of the Whispering Woods for over 150 years. He has spent his lifetime perfecting clockwork constructs of all kinds. He rarely ventures out of the woods except to procure rare materials or tools for his extensive subterranean workshop. When he does leave, his home and shop are guarded by one of his most impressive creations, a colossal clockwork golem.

The Tinkerer is a 20th level NPC that can be placed in just about any Pathfinder campaign. He can be altered to be a diabolical BBEG (via his CR 20+ Clockwork Colossus) that must be thwarted, a genial ally that is a repository of information and resources, or the eccentric, kooky recluse as presented above. Below are links to his character sheet, clockwork colossus, and craft calculations.

Prestige Class (3.5e): Spellcaller

Sorcery is an undisciplined method of using magic, according to most wizards. Yet some sorcerers have managed to master their gift with years of training. This mastery focuses the raw power coursing through the sorcerer’s veins, giving the Spellcaller far more control over their spells, and unique insight into the nature of metamagic. This control comes at a cost: Spellcallers cannot cast spells as often as a normal sorcerer.

Hit Die: d4

REQUIREMENTS: To qualify as a Spellcaller, a character must fulfill all the following criteria.

Skills: Knowledge (arcana) 8 ranks, Spellcraft 8 ranks.

Special: Must be able to cast 3rd level arcane spells without preparation.

CLASS SKILLS: The Spellcaller’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Craft (any) (Int), Concentration (Con), Decipher Script (Int), Knowledge (all skills) (Int), Profession (any) (Wis), Search (Int), Spellcraft (Cha). See Chapter 4 of the Player’s Handbook for skill descriptions.

Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier.

CLASS FEATURES: All of the following are class features of the Spellcaller prestige class.

Spells per Day: When a new Spellcaller level is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in whatever spontaneous arcane spellcasting class he belonged to before he added the prestige class. He does not gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained.

Spell Studies: Due to his intense study into the nature of spells, a Spellcaller has access to far more spells than a normal spontaneous spell caster, but at the sacrifice of having fewer spells per day. A Spellcaller is able to know 2 more spells per spell level than their base arcane spellcasting class would normally allow. However, a Spellcaller can cast two less arcane spells for each spell level known (not including bonus spells from a high stat score). For example, a 6th level Sorcerer/1st level Spellcaller can only cast four 0-level spells, four 1st, four 2nd, and two 3rd level spells, but knows nine 0-level spells, seven 1st, five 2nd, and four 3rd level spells.

Metamagic Knowledge: At 2nd level, a Spellcaller gains a bonus metamagic feat.

Spell Mimic (Ex): At 3rd level, a Spellcaller can learn spells that he has seen cast. When he sees a spell being cast, if a successful Spellcraft check is made (DC 15 + spell level), the character may choose to learn the spell by immediately sacrificing 200XP per level of the spell being cast. If the XP is spent, the Spellcaller adds the spell to their list of spells known. Spells discovered in this way do not count against the normal limit of spells known, allowing a Spellcaller to amass a vast amount of spells known if they spend enough XP. Spells can be learned when witnessing either an arcane or divine spell being cast, but only spells that appear on an arcane spell list can be learned.

Spell-like and supernatural abilities cannot be copied, even if the ability is a direct duplication of a spell. Likewise, spells cast from items (including potions, scrolls, wands, staves, and wondrous items) cannot be copied either.

Metamagic Casting (Ex): At 4th level, the Spellcaller can cast metamagic spells as if they were prepared in advance, turning most metamagic spells into a standard action, instead of a full-round action. This allows them to learn and apply the Quicken Spell metamagic feat.

Metamagic Mastery (Ex): At 5th level, the Spellcaller has gained true insight into the nature of magic. When casting a spell with a metamagic feat, the Spellcaller may choose to use an additional spell slot to account for the levels needed to cast the spell with metamagic. He must still be high enough level to cast the spell without using an additional spell slot. For example, a sorcerer 11/Spellcaller 5 could cast a quickened fireball by expending a 3rd level spell slot (for the base spell) and a 4th level spell slot (for the metamagic feat), but could not cast an empowered and quickened fireball because he cannot cast 9th level spells.

Only one additional spell slot can be used per spell, so a Spellcaller could not use three 1st level spells to cast a silent and still magic missile. He could, however, cast the silent and still magic missile using a 1st level spell (for the base spell) and a 2nd level spell (to cover the two metamagic feats). The Spellcaller must still have the feat(s) used to enhance their spell.

Archers work diligently to perfect their aim; artisan fletchers and bowyers spend a lifetime honing their craft. The Order of the Silver Bow does both—creating a harmonious, symbiotic blend of art and archery. Wielding their bespoke signature weapons, these archers are known far and wide for the meticulous perfection they exhibit in their crafted bows as well as their deadly accuracy when using them.

Hit Die: d8

REQUIREMENTS: To qualify to join the Order of the Silver Bow, a character must fulfill all the following criteria.

Base Attack Bonus: +4.

Skills: Craft (bowmaking) 8 ranks.

Feats: Weapon Focus (any bow).

CLASS SKILLS: The Silver Bow’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Appraise (Int), Craft (Int), Concentration (Con), Diplomacy (Cha), Gather Information (Cha), Intimidate (Cha), Knowledge (local), Profession (Wis), Search (Int), Sense Motive (Wis), Spot (Wis), Survival (Wis). See Chapter 4 of the Player’s Handbook for skill descriptions.

Skill Points at Each Level: 6 + Int modifier.

CLASS FEATURES: All of the following are class features of the Order of the Silver Bow prestige class.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Order of the Silver Bows gain no proficiency with any weapon or armor.

Bespoke Weapon (Ex): Order of the Silver Bows can craft a weapon that is custom tailored to their hand. When crafting a masterwork bow for which they have the Weapon Focus feat, they can choose to make it their signature weapon. They may only have one such weapon of this type at a time. When wielding the bow, they gain a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls. These bonuses increase by 1 at each class level, to a maximum of +5 at 5th level.

These bonuses act as a penalty for anyone other than the crafter, even for other Order of the Silver Bow members.

Elemental Arrows (Sp): Beginning at 1st level, when crafting a masterwork arrow, an Order of the Silver Bow can choose to imbue them with elemental energy. At the time the arrow is finished, he can choose either fire, cold, electricity, or acid. The elemental arrows deal an additional +1d6 damage of the type selected. This damage increases to +2d6 at 3rd level and +3d6 at 5th level. At 3rd level he adds sonic damage to the types of bonus damage he choose. At 5th level, he can choose to make the arrows deal bonus force damage, but the bonus damage die changes to d4s instead of d6.

Eos and Nix (Ex): Beginning at 2nd level, when crafting a masterwork arrow, an Order of the Silver Bow can choose to imbue it with light or darkness. When fired, these arrows radiate either light or darkness, as the spell, but with a duration of 1 minute per class level and a caster level of 1 per class level.

So my group is about to get into Dragon Week, and I've spent a lot of time now working on my new project, The Fantasy Fantasy League!

https://fantasyfantasyleague.obsidianportal.com/

I'm still working out the finer details and customizing. I've spent some time with my groups running some numbers and getting feedback on the best way to make it engaging and worth following. Maybe even opening it to members of the OP community. As always, I'm always open to ideas and questions. It's all still pretty rough draft, but the functioning basics right now are:

-You, the Patron, create your Party of 3 by picking Combatants from different Teams during a Draft

-A Round consists of all Teams facing each in a 1-on-1 Fight

-The victor of a Fight is the Team that wins 2 out of 3 Contests. See here for more details on this break down and Points tracking : https://fantasyfantasyleague.obsidianportal.com/wikis/main-page.

At the end of a Round is a Main Event. Depending on what the Main Event is, the Teams or Parties (haven't decided which one yet) must beat a threshold/check/score in each contest to determine if they prevail or perish.

Coming Soon:

Expanded Rosters: More Combatants and Teams

Patron Skills:Things you can do to influence the outcomes of Fights or Rounds in your favor

Team Abilities: A unique action, effect, or ability that each Team's Combatants are able to activate during a Round. This also gives Drafting more depth as you're not just going after the highest modifiers for your Party.

Betting System: Use your Renown to wager on outcomes or anything else you want to.

I've got a bunch of additional half ideas floating around still, but getting these solid will help give this a meaty feel while still being approachable. It's just my players right now for drafting and stuff, but if there's any interest let me know :-)

A few of my players have some vacation time, and I threw out the idea of a 5 day marathon of game. We talked about some one shots or a super dungeon, but then it struck me. Name me a better marathon than SHARK WEEK! So, I present to you Dragon Week! Kidnap your players, drop them in a different pocket plane every "episode", and slay some dragons just for the hell of it! I'll be putting notes in parentheses as I'm still working out the finer points, but let me know if you have any questions or ideas!

(The image loads as a splash screen and stays at the top of the at-the-moment DM-only wiki page)

(The players find themselves in a black space with blinding lights beaming down on them. As their vision clears, they see that they are surrounded by hundreds of floating portals. Through the misty arcane pools, they see all manner of people and creatures watching them in anticipation. A deep reptilian voice suddenly fills the space)

"Welcome to the greatest display of entertainment in all the Astral Sea!

Every year, we choose several arguably lucky parties to participate in DRAGON WEEK!

This series of challenges will test their grit, their stamina, their will, and most importantly, their prowess!

The challenges include returning fan favorites

Eat, Pray, Chum (Fighting a Dragon turtle/water dragon either by staying atop the wreckage of a destroyed fleet of ships or below after grabbing the "powerups" for underwater combat)

Sand Storm (Fighting a brass dragon in a gold filled hoard cave as it fills with sand )

Dragon Island (Running through the jungle, being hunted by vicious kobolds ands feral wyrmlings)

I was Prey: Surviving the Rage (Takes place just after a Red Dragon has destroyed a major city, and they have to bring it down and defeat it classic hero style)

And by special request, we'll be adding a new one to the mix:

In the Mind's Eye (Defeating a Mind Flayer Dragon in its Underdark lair)

As always, any surviving parties will have to duke it out in one final showdown (I'm either going to let the party roll percentiles after each round to see if any others actually survive, or just smudge it and drum roll them winning, depending on how my players are feeling) before claiming the GRAND PRIZE (TBD)!

So grab your Rat-on-a-Stick, settle down in front of your scrying portals, and get ready for the best DRAGON WEEK ever!"

Unique Weapon: Dagger Cane

The walking cane's body was a smooth, matte black, its glossy surface worn smooth with years of use. Perrigren hefted it between his hands, familiarizing himself with its weight and balance. Like the shaft, the brass head of the cane, depicting some unidentifiable avian, had lost its luster to time and use. The curious halfling continued to turn the cane over in his hands, marveling at its intricate construction. A thin, elliptical slot ran through the length of the cane, creating a hollowed center; an entrance in the handle and an exit at the base. Nested inside the thin cavity were six throwing daggers, meticulously crafted so they slid easily through the body of the cane with little resistance. A spring mechanism housed in the ferrule beneath the handle kept the daggers that were loaded into the body packed tight, preventing them from jostling around while walking.

As his search continued, Perrigren discovered a second mechanism in the heel of the cane, more complex than the spring apparatus at the handle. Nestled inside the base section of the shaft ferrule, a series of tension pins served a dual purpose. Firstly, they prevented any daggers from slipping out of the slit in the heel of the cane. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, Perri discovered that by swinging the cane in a rapid arc and generating a sufficient force, the pins would regress, freeing a dagger from the base of the cane and allowing the internal springs to launch it with significant force.

With awe and glee, Perrigren realized that the cane was not just an ornate dagger bandoleer, it was a weapon in its own right. Perrigren dragged the body of one of the fallen kobolds across the room and propped it against one of the stone walls. The halfling took a deep breath and took aim, then flicked a dagger out of the cane. A wide miss; too forceful. He tried a second time, closer but still well off his mark. Perri continued for a few minutes and it did not take him long to find the sweet spot, the perfect amount of speed and force needed to throw the dagger from the end of the cane and hit his mark. He was surprised at how intuitive it was. The dagger flew perfectly flat, the tip sailing through the air until it sunk into the dead kobold. With no tumbling or spinning, Perri no longer had to try and gauge the distance to his target and adjust the tumbling of the blade so it struck true. He felt confident that he could now hit a target with a dagger at distances he usually had to use a spear or javelin to reach. Perri smiled as he twirled the cane, dancing it across his fingers in a show of dexterity. "This changes everything—" he mused to himself.

Sanity Mechanic

So I know it's been awhile- life has been nuts, but I'm finally really getting back into game and recommitting to actually being active in the community again.

I'm running a new campaign, and have been working on a new mechanic for it, "Sanity". So far it's gone well, and has really helped the players focus on and develop their character. The idea is that as the story goes on, their supply of sanity slowly starts to dwindle. In order to maintain and possibly build it back up, they must play to their core character traits and kind of rely on themselves in both a story element and meta aspect.

I know it's a long read, but I'd love some thoughts on the mechanics:

Each character starts with a Sanity score cap equal to their Wisdom score x 4. This score represents the mental well being and balance of the character and they can never earn or regain more than this cap. A player may choose to sacrifice 1 Sanity to gain the benefit of an Inspiration Point. Regular rules for use of Inspiration apply, but this boon can be used as often as the player desires. However, doing so more than ONCE per day may lead to unfortunate consequences. Each point used between long rests after the first will increase the likelihood of incurring temporary insanity or some other dissociative malady.(Sanity Table link: https://db4sgowjqfwig.cloudfront.net/campaigns/244268/assets/1072975/Screenshot_2020-05-04_Sanity_d20srd_org.png?1588802979)

Other uses are, but not limited to:

At any level where you may raise your base attributes or gain a feat, you may permanently sacrifice 15 Sanity points, lowering your maximum cap, to gain either the attribute increase and a feat, or gain 2 feats.

Saving throws Players can spend their reaction and a Sanity point to reroll a saving throw.

I have a thing for that Allow a player to spend a Sanity Point to “remember” their character purchased a non-magical mundane or useful item, and that they have it somewhere on their person.

I know a guy… Allow a player to spend Sanity to create and describe an NPC contact who can help with the current situation or mission. Must be within reason and context (agreed upon by the player and DM). The results of exactly how useful/trustworthy/forthcoming that contact is will be determined by Char rolls (persuasion, intimidate, etc.) and the description. Think Han Solo calling on Lando Calrissian (very mixed results) vs. James Bond going to Q (sweet new goodies!).

Battle of Wills : If both parties decide to engage (and are intelligent enough to do so), a creature, NPC, or PC may initiate a Battle of Wills. To do so, each opponent can choose to spend up to 12 Sanity (if they have them) to force the other to falter and submit. The number spent will be represented by either 2d6 or 1d12, and revealed at the same time to each opponent. The margin by which a victory is claimed will have varying degrees of consequence for the losing party.

To gain the upper hand before the roll, the opponents can make Deception vs Insight to either tell how powerful their opponent is, or trick the other into thinking that they are weaker or stronger, thus trying to influence how many Sanity points to spend.

Sanity Check: During gameplay, a player may make an Sanity Check to attempt to use a Sanity Point or multiple points to achieve something otherwise outside of their capabilities. The DM then may offer a Counter. This may be simply a number of points to accomplish the Sanity Check, or some other action or sacrifice. They then Negotiate and resolve the outcome based of the Counter agreed on.

Sanity may be gained through story arc development or other special circumstances. In addition to regular gain , at the end of each session players regain a Sanity point for each time they played to their characters personality trait, bond, ideal, or flaw during the session.

Sanity may also be lost if faced with traumatic events or creatures that disturbs the psyche.

If a character reaches 0 Sanity… Well, let’s just hope it never comes to that…

Hello everybody. My name's Aaron. I am new to the site, and fairly new to playing MM# (Mutatnts and Master Minds); I have recently been going over ideas for a character for a Bat Family centric game I'd like to play at some point. I have a few ideas in mind already. All three share the same background for the time being unless/until I can come up with something better. I will provide a link to my google drive where I have them stored currently. Another concept/question I have is if anyone would think that a character with Taskmaster's "powers" would be acceptable or fitting for a batman centered game or not. Any and all feedback, constructive criticism, suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated, and I thank all posters in advance. :)

"It walked on two legs...like a man—but it was no man. Men have flesh and bones and skin. This had roots and vines and bark. A verdant glow came from deep inside the creature, peeking through the roots that comprised its limbs as it moved. I tried to sneak closer, but stepped on a dry twig. The large wooden plates of its head creaked as it snapped around and looked right at me! Its eyes glowed with the same greenish light as its body, but were much brighter. Angry. I turned and ran. I am not sure how I made it out alive, but I will never set foot on that continent again." — Zenkas Lawrick, Pathfinder Society Venture-Captain

Deep in the wilderness of Arcadia, a long forgotten grove has stood for millennia, untainted by the outside world. During the Age of the Dragons, when the Great Conflagration spread across the Arcadian forests, the Grove was left untouched. The raging firestorm swept across the land, razing swathes of ancient trees to the ground— yet not even a single bough in the Grove was scorched.

The few legends that remain about the Grove speak of its protector, an elusive being that wanders among the trees and protects it from harm. It goes by many names: The Great Gardener, Tree Keeper, Guardian of the Grove. What little is known of the Grove, even less in known about its guardian. Some rumors say it is a man who fashions his clothing from the forest around him, some say it is an angel or demon that is imprisoned, others say it is a tree that has come to life. The Guardian is none of these.

The Guardian of the Grove is an ancent wyrwood who has dedicated himself to protecting the Grove. At the center of the Grove is the primordial energy that the Azlanti wizards used to create the first of his kind. After the wyrwoods rebelled on their creators and gained independence, the Guardian returned to the Grove to prevent history from repeating. As the only remaining progenitor, the Guardian feels it is his responsibility to the other wyrwood people to protect the Grove. Should the genesis energy be disrupted, tainted, or destroyed, it would affect the entire wyrwood race. The Guardian of the Grove is the final line of defense preventing the potential extinction of his race.
