If you struggle to find good images for your characters, try looking on IMDB. There you’ll find all sorts of portrait/headshot photos. Some are famous, some aren’t. Just search on a TV-show and start browsing around. In no time you’ll have tons of good pics.

Also here on flickr

This is a link for “do not edit” “remember to credit”

But there are also other Creative Commons licenses for portraits, that are legal to edit, and post…

Do a italic line at the bottom of the Fluff box, or something. Then its all legal and stuff

Here are some ideas for edits were I just put on 2 filters in PS, and added ship background

and here were I added the head set, some paint daubs and the background

I use Lego Minis. Partially because I used to work for Lego, but mostly because I have zillions of them. My problem has been in taking the photos. I have trouble getting the lighting right. http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/moonsong/wiki/campaign-web For every one picture I get right like that one, I seem to get three wrong/blurry.

I’ve often used Meez:

Cutesy, I know, but I swear that’s almost a better depiction of Tisk than the Elfwood drawing I pointed people to during the campaign.

Mr. Ogre – I saw your campaign ealier, and its really cool!

Your photo problems, is mainly because a lens as a problem with focussing at the short distance that you shoot them at. If you go further back, and zoom in, you need to add even more lightning… and your focus plane gets lower, so it will be again be hard to do good pics. Often, most cameras even soom in the most, will not get “close enough”

If you have a compact camera, put it on the little flower icon when shooting. if you have SLR The best thing you can do is buy the cheapest Macro lens you kan get… they can focus at a very short distance, and you get crisp pic for minis(and models, and bug and bettles) – or buy a good tele lens, with Macro mode in it.

Also http://www.heromachine.com/ can whip up some cool stuff, but might need some cooler back grounds, like Switch and Markin
