I was just reading through a few of the campaigns on the site and I thought of this. As a reader, it would be nice if I could start at the first post in the campaign and work my way towards the end. Right now, in order to do this I have to start at the very bottom of the campaign and work upwards.

I can understand wanting the most recent post at the top if you’re a player and know what’s going on already, so an option to reverse the order that posts are displayed would be preferable to just flipping them altogether.

Count me as a big ‘yes, please’ on that one. It would really help those new to the campaign. Actually, it’d be a nice option to let users pick their default ‘from the very beginning’ or ‘when last we left.”

{gentle bump} This would be especially useful for first time readers. Currently don’t people have to scroll down to ‘older’ and continue doing that to get to the last (first) entry? How about at least having ‘oldest’ and ‘newest’ buttons and putting them not just at the bottom but also at the top to. Anything to help with the navigation, please.

If you check out the game i write for, “Sins of the Father”, we basically stepped around this in a way by having one entry at the top of the page which gathers all the updates and is always dated last, and then another entry dated older which indexes the rest of the adventure. It’s messy and kind of hard to update but it works! :)

There are several campaign out there using a top-posted entry to serve as either a campaign summary, adventure log index, or both. It was discussed in the MotD Feature Request.

For one of my campaigns I’ve actually created a wiki page with a session-by-session or campaign chapter-by-campaign chapter option for people wishing to review our adventures.

I’m thinking that if Reverse Post Order is going to be backburnered, perhaps in the meantime the new Older and Newer Buttons can be improved to include “First” and “Latest” entry buttons as well.
